GPU for 1440p 165Hz?

Vaskeklut

Yo

So in my new build, I kinda want as good picture as I can get, today.

And since we are not seeing 4k beyond 60Hz, im looking at 1440p.

And as of today I think (feel free to correct), the "best" 1440p monitor today would be something like the Acer XB271HU, at 165Hz.

Would a gtx1080 make this monitor shine as it should, or is a Titan X needed?

Thanks!

a 1070 runs some old games at max 1440p 165fps

a 1080 runs everything but the most demanding games at that res and fps

everything better then a 1080 will run every game 1440p 165fps max settings

For the best picture a 4k monitor even at 60Hz would be better, you will most likely need 1080 SLI to push out that amount of frames in new AAA titles.

 •E5-2670 @2.7GHz • Intel DX79SI • EVGA 970 SSC• GSkill Sniper 8Gb ddr3 • Corsair Spec 02 • Corsair RM750 • HyperX 120Gb SSD • Hitachi 2Tb HDD •

I would go with the Titan or dual 1080s to  get close if you want to play at max or high settings for the games. You need a lot of power to keep that fps up high at max settings so dual 1080 or titan is what I would do personally. A1080would not you get to that 165 alone.

Assuming your cpu can even keep up, there is no single-gpu card currently available that will do as you ask. Unless SLI is considered (of which, I'd recommend against) you will need to compromise on visual settings to target 165 fps at your desired resolution.

Wrong. Owned a 1070sc from EVGA. At max in 1440p I'm siege/mankind divided/witcher3 is about 80-90fps and you can't even max out mankind divided with 60fps locked with a 1070. For 1440p 165hz it's a minimum of a 1080/1080sli/titanXP/titanXPsli.

Edit: disregard read your post wrong my post is now poo.

CPU: 6700K Case: Corsair Air 740 CPU Cooler: H110i GTX Storage: 2x250gb SSD 960gb SSD PSU: Corsair 1200watt GPU: EVGA 1080ti FTW3 RAM: 16gb DDR4

Other Stuffs: Red sleeved cables, White LED lighting 2 noctua fans on cpu cooler and Be Quiet PWM fans on case.

Not even the Titan X Pascal? I thought I had read that somewhere. Hm, my bad.

Ive heard that when you have been gaming on 120hz or more, which I have, that 60Hz gets rather "slow"? Is this not true?

You might notice a little bit of a difference, it isn't as big as going from 30Hz to 60Hz.

It really varies from person to person, I know I have a 120Hz screen, but I cannot tell the difference between 120Hz, and 60Hz, if you want to see the difference lock to the fps to 60Hz on your screen, AMdand Nvidia both have this option in their drivers.

No single current card can hit 144 FPS on a 1440p screen at max settings in most AAA games.  For that you will need to use SLI.  I doubt a pair of 1070's would even hit that, so your looking at a pair of 1080's or pair of Titan XP's and there are probably some games that still won't hit those FPS numbers.

I have a 1440p@144Hz monitor and have a single 1070 and plan to get a 2nd 1070 this Xmas, but I expect FPS in the 100-120 range and only on games with good SLI support.
