Uploaded images not showing

Today I've noticed several times that images are not loading. I just soptted that all the URLs point to http://localhost... as opposed to http://linustechtips... I'm by no means fluent in HTML but I understand this is at your end, right?

Just to test I'll post two images.

The first one points directly to flicr

The second I'm uploading from my computer:

The third one I uploaded before the recent forum update:

Here's an example post with the issue:

At the time I'm writing this, the URL to the image is as follow:

http://localhost/ips_themes/uploads/monthly_2016_08/IMG_0946.JPG.8b6e43e0ffff8fea5c23cbfb93109ccb.JPG

As I'm writing this, all images are showing correctly in the edit window.

Edit: Looks like I wasn't able to reproduce the issue. Maybe it's the spoilers? Can't tell. I'm in over my head.

I just tried it and it seems to be fixed now, it was usually when you tried to embed a link of an image rather than copying the image directly

I was kind of leaning toward fixed too, but lo and behold, this recent topic has the issue in the OP: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/651120-help-somethings-stealing-my-ram/

With the image URL http://localhost/ips_themes/uploads/monthly_2016_08/help.PNG.f9dd6856575b22ddf634cf0bb0f9adcc.PNG

Replacing http://localhost/ips_themes/ with https://linustechtips.com/main/ brings the picture back. They're out there, something's just off.

Well this is why the choose file thing is below the post box, people keep linking via local host which seems to not work

That can't be it. The rest of the path along with the file name looks to be generated by the forum server.

Well idk what people are doing then since it works if you choose files for me and I can't replicate the issue since I have no idea what people are doing

Yep, think I've worked it out, above I selected a picture from my PC, but didn't click or drag it into the post, and that's when it happens as above... so it's user error basically it looks like to me, you have to click the picture or drag it into the post for it to work properly as below.2015_terminator_genisys-1920x1080.jpg

I think I got it. You got an Android phone on you? On mobile the "click to choose files." -link gives the option to take a photo. Everything seems to go smoothly. THe preview even shows the picture, but the picture won't show once posted. And the localhost URL is retained.

I got a Galaxy S6 with Android 6.0 and Chrome browser.

Ahh I didn't try that... but got the problem replicated by not clicking or dragging the uploaded picture(s) into the post.

I found more. I went back to edit my post with the failed picture and the upload was still in the "Uploaded Images" -section. I clicked on "Insert into post" and it came up. And it's showing now.

Yeah, I found that out before... the forum must have some kind of posting cache, as I started a post once and included images etc... and then decided against it, then something else relevant came up in the topic and so I went to post again and my earlier text was still there including uploaded pics.... which I thought was pretty cool, so best thing is to say really is that if the OP doesn't post pics properly, they can just edit the post and click the picture to insert into post. I think it's mostly user error lately, same as when people want build ideas but don't include what usage they would have for it and budget etc.
