After some recommendations for 9500GT upgrade

I've had this card for ages, it's an MS N9500 GT 1GB card. Just after some advice on what would give me some better gaming performance, but still a few generations old to keep it cheap. I only really play older games based on the Source engine, which this card has no problem with, but I'd like to be able to play some more modern games at some point.

 

Even a pair of older cards in X-fire or SLI that will out perform what I have now is an option, as long as they are quite cheap, even used.

pretty much anything on the market is better, what are the specs of your system?

That thing is still quite decent and can be picked up for 60-70 bucks depending on where you live.

 

If you want new, RX 460. Cheap and it got released a few weeks ago. Should serve you for years and years

Not sure what your budget is or what you have under the hood but a 680 could be a good upgrade and would double your 1gb vram, probably better value on the amd side but I always use nvidia cards so wouldnt know

Fx-6300 and 16GB memory. Not after anything bleeding edge, budget is as cheap as possible. This card had a capacitor explode a while ago, and I want to replace it for reliability of the system, not really after a major upgrade, just something a bit better if I'm going to replace it.

750 Ti does a very good job without additional power when it comes to 720@60, 768@60, and 1080@30 with games on medium/high, or 1080@60 on low/medium.

Probably about 3 times what I'd be able to pay for it, just spent a load on upgrading my cooling and buying burgers.

Did you look on eBay? They have some good GPU's for cheap as long as you go with trusted vendors.
