1070 lower performance than expected?

I need to do that too. The 1070 is the last piece to my puzzle.

Luckily since I work at (undisclosed company) I get a MASSIVE (undisclosed) discount on the latest i7 certain times throughout the year so when the time comes upgrading to a 6th gen 6 core beast will be a breeze LOL

LOLOLOL I wanted to upgrade my entire system all at once, but the 1070 was just too tantalizing for me to resist getting early!

First off specs are,

GTX 1070 FE

FX 8350 stock

M5A97

8 GB RAM

250 GB SSD

1TB SSHD

So I recently got my new GTX 1070 the other day as an upgrade from my R9 290, and I was expecting massive gains. I know the 8350 will bottleneck the 1070 to a degree being it is an older lower end CPU, but I seem to have much lower performance than most people I'm seeing online with the same or similar setups (same CPU/GPU). I'm getting in some cases around 50-60fps in BF4 on ultra, and around 45-60fps on GTA 5 maxed out without MSAA. I'm running a 2560x1080 monitor and run my games at that native resolution. Once again I understand the 8350 will be a bottleneck in CPU intensive titles (but come on the 1070 is supposed to edge out a freakin Titan X!), I'm just hoping I could get some feedback and maybe some troubleshooting tips because I'm finding it hard to find any real solutions online, thank you everyone I love you guys!

well it is expected since you have a 8350. those frames per second are fine on those games.

Ok, I'll run it too to see the differences. At the end of the BM you got a link to the online result page, can you post it here?

If I had the capturing software, I could show you an i5 4440 bottlenecking a GTX 970 G1 Gaming (stock as even+25MHz sees driver crashes no matter what voltage+power limit). Doesn't help that the weight of the card damaged the PCIe connector (before I could move it to a case which has supports for PCIe card-and a case from 2004 at that) and now its stuck at PCIe x8. In some games PCIe Gen 3.0 does make a difference (but not much of one)

I have an i5 4570 (non K) paired with 1070 and my Firestrike score is 12847. (link)

My CPU has also seen a better days so your score should be at least somewhat similar to mine. :/

I was actually going to suggest overclocking, but looking at the 4 pin connector...the motherboard is best described as just adequate for your FX 8350 (aka it runs, but that's it-nothing past stock).

i was thinking of overclocking my GPU a little, but the CPU is dragging me down to the point that i doubt itd be worth it. I also dont have much faith in my reference FE 1070 lol

If you OC your card to same clocks like I have, it will be the same.

FEs are running a bit hot but you can definitely squeeze some more powah out of them if you want to.

If the i5 bottlenecks the 1070 in CPU intensive scenes then you can say that it bottlenecks the 1070... In most games you will be fine, but in CPU intensive ones you won't be...
