Seems like every year this happens , something/something every one talks about ,Fights about , use to start conversations about , Whether it's a hardware or hardware level feature, a game,  an idea , a new idea or this new introduction to interact with data, You name it , You know some things are being over hyped to an immence rather annoying level,

Rules : (nothing too explicit but it's just a guideline, feel free to write it the way you desire without causing a flame war)

Example:

Person 1: Current Things i feel like is being Hyped as of late are.. *insert subjects/list here*

I'll Start:

Current Things i feel like is being Hyped as of late are

  • Virtual Reality Hardware
  • ZEN processor performance relative to intel
  • Pokemon Go
  • 1080 performance bump / Pascal in general
  • intel 10 core CPU Price
  • Note 7
  • DX 12

it's been shown that Pascal is just Maxwell on a smaller node as when they have the same amount of cores at the same clock speeds, they perform just as good as each other so...16nm really helping for dem 2+Ghz clocks I guess :P (vs the 1.5Ghz basically Max on air coolers generally for Maxwell).

Pokemon Go

Hmmmmm....first world problems when you have a sister that's really competitive and she's almost level 15 and I'm 1/3 way through level 8...rip me

Something I find extremely overhyped is the new 1060 3GB...it has 10% less cuda cores than the 6GB variant and people expect it to perform like it's bigger 6GB brother...at least if the pricing is the same as the 4GB RX480 then rip one of their argument they used with the RX480 4GB vs 6GB 1060 ;)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Elon Musk prediction are overhyped. He says so many things about stuff he doesn't seem to grasp fully, but people listen to him like he's a goddamn god.

Apple is still overhyped in the real world of tech peasants. People still haven't got tired of them.

Vulkan is underhyped however.

Vram. The number of people saying they will not get any gpu that doesn't have hbm2, and expected it on Polaris wtf. This is AMD's absurd marketing of HBM coming back to bite them, but the only advantage over GDDR5 is power usage. Hawaii couldn't saturate it's memory bandwidth and that was GDDR5, no one should care about vram as much as everyone seems to.

DX12 and Vulkan

Next years GPUs and especially HBM2

XPoint ReRAM

RX480/1060/1070/1080

Zen CPU generally

Auto driving cars

Deep learning

Macs

The upcoming consoles

Most modern games generally

Star Citizen

What isn't overhyped these days? That is the harder question.
