i own a benq 144hz 1440p monitor and a 1080 at stock.

i get about 90 - 150 - 200 fps depending on game / engine etc.

Yeah I think a 1070 will be fine then for 1440p. I will run a very basic rc simulator that I am sure the 1070 will produce over 500 fps, but essentially I am looking for over 60 fps for stuff like GTA V maxed out

Yes. 24" and 27" are the most common monitor sizes.

Thanks man, you’ve helped a lot. Sorry if at times it seemed like I was fighting against your word. I am a pc noob with a solid 7 months of part time internet pc research under my belt. Before then I had no idea what a GPU or a PSU was...

I don't think you were against me at any point or anything haha, I was fighting everyone else it seemed.

It's true that it could be a long time before the 1080 Ti is out, the new Titan was just released.

The new 1080 Ti will be out within the next year, that's basically guaranteed.

It could be released as early as 3 months from now, like the 980 Ti was after the last Titan X.

Or it could take 6 months, or 8.

I still don't think its release will have a damn thing to do with AMD or Nvidia worrying about losing Titan X money.

If anything they will release it when they feel they need more money, because it will sell well.

If the 1080 is still selling strong, it's unlikely they'll release a 1080 Ti for $100 more that performs as well as the new $1200 Titan X any time right away.

The 980 Ti is as good as a Maxwell Titan X, for $350 less, and only $100 more than the 980.

Things won't be identical this time around, might be $150 more, or even $200 more who knows.

Point is, it should deliver $1200 Titan X performance or close to it for a lot cheaper, and is super worth it over a 1080 if it offers that performance for just a bit more money.

It's all speculation, nothing is guaranteed.

What is guaranteed is it will be the best Pascal GPU that isn't a retarded $1200.

It will fill the gap between the $600 1080 and $1200 Titan X Pascal and will be the non-insane top end choice to go for.

You could be waiting quite a while for anything else from Nvidia or AMD.

I was just arguing that I don't think Nvidia is going to have 1080 Ti's ready to go, and just not sell them because AMD hasn't done anything yet or whatever.

Nvidia is also aware that for the most part, $1200 Titan X customers and $700-$800~ 1080 Ti customers are not the same people.

I don't think they're worrying about losing tons of Titan X sales and that's what's stopping them.

If anything they would lose more 1080 sales from people willing to spend a bit more, the Ti isn't going to be some retarded $400-$500 extra like the Titan X will be compared to the Ti.

If people were saying that, they would be right. 980 sales definitely suffered when the $100 more 980 Ti came out competing with their $1000 card.

Who wouldn't pay that extra $100 for that HUGE performance jump? They were already looking to spend $550 anyway, $650 isn't out of reach, $1000 and $1200 are.

You'll be happy if you get a 1070 or 1080 most likely if you do. They only came out late May/June so it's not too late to get one and it still be worth it, they're still pretty fresh. You could sell it when the 1080 Ti releases and then grab it, it's probably worth the investment just because of the possible wait. Or wait even past the 1080 Ti and grab a 1170 or whatever AMD does.

Good luck!

Edit: I need to read my posts before I post, I say too many retarded things accidentally I have to fix lol jesus

I think one thing or brand and say another, or just forget words somehow.

If your playing AAA titles on a 1440p 144hz screen and you want to set your graphics to ultra then you will need two 1080's. There is no point in having a 144hz screen when your card is only capable of producing 80-100 FPS. Below is two 1080s in Sli. On battlefield 4 ultra settings the monitor is a ROG swift 160hz 1440p monitor. Depends on what settings you like to game on.

Any proof at all that Nvidia actually plan to release a Ti this time? AMD don't have 490 ready yet so... Nvidia have no reason to release a Ti.

Sall good man. It was a good read. I kind of want a 1080, I know I would buy a 1080ti, but realistically I'll probably purchase a 1070 in the next 60 days.

So, for building a new PC, what are the most useful when programs and stress tests to install after installing Windows?

As as far as ocerclocking your gpu, cpu, and ram? Observing fps and temperatures? Stability?

GPU overclocking - MSI Afterburner or Precision X

CPU overclocking - do it through the BIOS and stress test with AIDA64

RAM - memtest86 to check things are all good there

FPS - Nvidia shadowplay's built in FPS counter

Temps - HWmonitor

So 0.1% of people or even less, 2x Titan's and a triple monitor setup lol.

Oh btw, steam hardware survey

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

Shows 980 Ti accounts for almost 1% of all GPU's, and there isn't even a Titan that has sold enough to make it onto the list.

So the answer remains, Nvidia will release a 1080 Ti if they want to make money, because you make money by selling things, and Ti's sell more things, a lot more things.

Seeing as Nvidia is a business that likes to make money, they will probably make the decision to make more money, and release the 1080 Ti.

I know this sounds crazy to some people, out of this world, that a company would do something to make more money, but I assure you all it's true!

You're very wrong here, why?

1. 980Ti MSRP was 650$, Titan's was 1000$. Selling 2 Titan X's makes Nvidia more money than selling 3 980Tis.

2. Titan X users are very often not steam users. They are used for workstations and often never even touch gaming. That makes your steam survey argument invalid. It's like you said "OMG there are no Quadros and FirePros there, probably nobody buys them!"

3. To be honest, not only price-wise two Titan X made more money for Nvidia than three 980Tis, it's also cheaper to produce two cards rather than three.

4. Some places bought MULTIPLE TitanX's for calculations and heavy stuff like that, so they've got rigs running 8-10 of them for example. I'm fairly certain that they made Nvidia much more money.

Think before writing dumb stuff please. @App4that will probably agree with me.
