What CPU should I get for my needs

Hi im building a skylake pc and cant decide between getting the i5 6500 or the i7 6700. I am only looking to do web browsing but I want it to be fast for this purpose and maybe in the future, some VERY VERY LIGHT gaming like playing rocket league with only the graphics card in the CPU. I sorta want to get the enthusiast 6700 but my brain is telling me to get the i5 6500. Thanks.

corsair 450 W psu

Asus z170 e mobo

No dedicated gpu

You can use a $10 AMD cpu to browse the internet and the integrated graphics are bad 720 around 30 FPS on lowest settings. Just get the cheaper one and a GPU like a 1060 or 480 for $199

Just keeping this here as a You can accomplish what you're trying to with a Pentium G4400. If you want to spend more, the i3-6100 is the absolute max you'd benefit from.

 

An AMD APU (think A8/A10) might also be a viable option for you.

Won't make a difference. By the time the i3 can't be used for browsing, the i5 and i7 will suffer the same fate

 

But perhaps you find a desire to do some gaming soon, if you do the i5 will give you a good discrete GPU gaming experience

For your use case, you're set for 4-5 years with the i3 unless you plan to fold or mine down the road.

We have a warranty thread that keeps an eye on warranties, and in 8 accounts ASUS had below average customer experiences including 3 "0" or " -∞" ratings. If you have had good experiences with tem, feel free to post there.
