Yeah it's liquid metal, in the manual it says it comes off easily.

I only just applied it, so I haven't tried taking it off before.   It was REALLY easy to apply, they provide you with 2 little brushes, and you just basically paint it onto the CPU's die.  Really easy.

Temps are outstanding bud!  You apparently disabled some cores during those Cinebench runs.  :P

Did you rough up the surface before applying the CLU?  I want to use it, but I thought you had to scour up the surface a bit for it to work correctly?  Let me know if I just made that up because I want to get some of this stuff ordered as long as I'm not having to scour the surface of my chip.

Nope I didn't rough it up, just simply applied it with the brush and done

Yeah, I think I read that you applied it between the die and IHS.  If so, doesn't do me much good.

I don't think it makes as big of a difference on top of the IHS, but idk

It seems that most 5820k at 4.7 GHz are doing 1400cb or better.  I'm wonder if memory might be holding your's back?  CPU cache?

Cinebench R15 is pretty brutal on Haswell-E at 4.8 GHz or above, but let us know if you pull it off.

reasons:

Cache is untouched - my mobo wont post if I change it. even if I manually set it to stock it wont post.

Ram is poo. Cinebench loves some good ram.

I got into windows at 5.0ghz but couldn't get past login screen... couldnt pass cinebench at 4.875ghz using adaptive voltage at 1.4v - got hardlock about half way thru. Didnt bother with fixed voltage. preety brutal that its an extra 0.1v to go 4.75ghz to 4.875ghz and its still not stable.

Ive passed 3dmark in the past at 4.9ghz http://www.3dmark.com/fs/7381702

Oh joy, I get to go from a Phenom II N970+D5650 to this ultrabook (Asus U38N-going to my 240GB SSD soon, and hopefully 10GB RAM) which is spoiled by the POS APU (paint screwed up when saving the SS of R15-and I won't be benchmarking this damn thing again, also, single threaded it scored 51CB in R15)

And is the HP Touchsmart TM2 that I'm upgrading to a 250GB SSD, then upgrading to Windows 10:

Edit: Also, Wacom touchscreens+pens are awesome, I swear the manufacturing cost of these laptops went to their screens.

what ram speed + cache are you using?

i might give some 4.9g efficiency runs a go.

There are more factors at play than CPU clock speed alone.

RAM Speed and Cache. Set Cinebench's priority to realtime, keep task manager open and end Explorer.exe Also, go into power settings and set it to high performance.

Hope this helps!

Nice run.  Can you push your CPU cache any higher?  You may gain some.

ill include the SS of it, but dunno if counts since its not the "orange" :/
