Pascal is nothing special, pretty much just Maxwell overclocked to hell which can be done due to the smaller manufacturing process all future cards will produce such improvements when ocd.

considering that 980ti is will be cut in price so much the 1080 will probably not be as good of a deal.

The 1080 was designed to replaced the 980, not the 980ti. The 1080ti will be based of p100 and will be about 30% faster. They have been doing this for a while so they can charge extra for the 980/1080/680 and they reduce the price when the big die comes out.

You people need to learn this gpu was never meant to compete or replace the 980ti its meant to compete and replace the 980 which it Reks pretty hard and over clocked reks the 980ti pretty good as well.

Sorry but please tell us all here how a  980Ti will be better value, let's start with what we know and have proof of.

 

GTX 1080 can go above 2.1ghz on the Founders Edition and stay under 60c at full load at 50% fan speed with a single 8 pin, this gives the 1080 SLi 980Ti like performance with no down sides of SLi.

Second, 980Ti SLi, say the Ti drops to 250, it's a good price, but to match a 1080 AIB card that can OC to 2500mhz+ with 6+8 pin configs you need to buy a second 980Ti and OC both, add on top power consumption and SLi issues, it works out a lot worse than you expected.

Price, 4K and temps sure are. 

 

But performance wise. It beats the 980 Ti. And 980 Ti is a tough card to beat.

Not even true with stick clocks its been shown to be 25-30% faster and when over clocked its significantly faster. You need to realize that if a 980ti is getting 60 and the 1080 is getting 75 fps on paper it dosnt look like much but thats exactly 25% faster which for a xx80 card is a good boost over last gens flagship card. You need to start comparing it more to the 980 which is what its meant to be a upgrade of not the 980ti. The fact that the new xx80 card beats last years flagship by 25% and when over clocked can achieve fps almost on par with sli 980ti's is a serious performance boost.

Looks like you didnt pay attention when they said 2x titanX performance in VR, also when overclocked it comes close to matching sli 980ti's. I think you need to do your research a little better and manage your expectations a bit better.

I'm guessing the AIB's will perhaps stock clock the 1080 WAY higher than the Founders Edition varients as the Founders hit's 2.1 with ease... i mean that's not evan a trying overclock.

Your whole argument here is a big disaster and nVIDIA were correct.

Jen knows people OC, he made it damn clear in the press conference for the reveal that overclocking is going to be amazing, and HOLY CRAP was he correct.

 

2x TITAN X is very real just not with a stock card.
