Yep pick up myself and checking it on site, current verdict are to pick it up.

But what about the 1070?

The 1070 will be $379 or $449 so depending on if you want to spend the extra cash for the latest or not then it's up to you at that point.

I got ONE 1080p Monitor

I'm using a 750ti

Selling current rig in less than 24hrs

Got a deal for a new Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 open box for 265$ but no official long term warranty due to it being a carry-on from a foreign country

Should I jump in?

$265 US? I dunno that seems okay-ish (new 970s start at about $400 CAD here) but not super great for used. The 970 itself is a real great 1080p card though. It'll serve you well and blow that 750Ti out of the water.

For an open box at that price I would say go for it. Depending on who you purchase through and what you checkout with you can still get protection against stuff like DOA. Paypal protection, Google protection, etc. are generally free and will pop up at checkout.

I'd only go for it if I can pick it up myself. I don't trust people these days for shipping a high-end GPU.

The GTX1070 is going to be better than the 970. But we don't know how much better in terms of gaming performance. I think the 1070 will easily be capable of 1440p gaming. The 1070 will be OP for 1080p gaming. That is what I think, it's not true(not yet at least).

Eyyyy Vietnam (my background). Anyways for only 1080p gaming I would go for the GTX 960 since it is a lot cheaper and will still crush alot of 1080p games (go for a 4GB GTX 960). If you have some ideas of upgrading to lets say three monitors go for the GTX 970, just wait the next couple weeks though for the GTX 1080, 1070 to saturate the market and watch for some bump down in prices (for the 900series).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If your willing to spend the extra cash though a GTX 1070 will be great.

The other thing is that AMD will release cards around the 970 performance and might price them as low as $200. That would end up being a better deal, although we've yet to find out what prices they will be.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

If AMD releases a card around 970 performance it'd be a faux-pas to price it at / over the 970 (which is $250 right now). I'll be surprised if they do. That said, I'm no diviner.
