First experience with VR–Share it here!

Share with us how was your first experience with VR (and the device you used)

My one:

I was at the store when I saw Samsung Gear VR headset trial. So, let's go on!

It was a Cirque de Soleil demo, and I loved it. It was a man firing some swords in front of me. I looked to both sides and there was also something... It was great!

I could've tried out a Gear VR but alas it was later at night and where I was at was about to stop running the demo.

I have a Galaxy S6, if I had $100 that I wanted to throw towards VR. I could do that.

Maybe if I build a PC this year, next year if I have any money I might buy an HMD. If there aren't second gen HMDs out by then (like an HTC Vive 2 or something) then I'll probably just buy an HTC Vive.

I'm not terribly interested in this VR movement, but I guess I'm not against it.

About half a year ago when I was developing for the Oculus Rift DK2 and had to test some stuff. The thing I was working on was not a game, but rather an experience or whatever.

Not that impressed by the graphics (the fps and resolution on the Rift, which the fps was fine on the PC itself). It all looked laggy and pixelated.

I bought an Oculus Rift DK2. It was.... Broken in most games. Very little to play at the time and a lot of things didn't work correctly.

TechnoLust demo is awesome, though.

Samsung Gear VR demo at an Ubisoft workshop for Romania's ONI 2016 participants in Craiova. It was running a tank game of sorts. It was kinda blurry for me tbh.

I also saw an Oculus booth in Bucharest once, but didn't bother with it.

Though, I suppose I could add to what I just posted. Just for reference the asterisk in the quote is something I added in to what I originally posted.

The build I plan on building might not be the greatest for VR... I plan on building this - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vDpymG

Though I might end up using either a R9 480X or a GTX 1070.

I tried out a Rift 2 weeks ago at a museum, they were doing a demo of like future plane travel using VR. It was awesome, but the graphics were very 2008, and it must have been a DK or something 'cause there was a wicked "screen door" effect, so I won't be getting one until the pixel density is higher (and I have a PC that can run it).
