GTX 1080 benchmarks leak: not much faster than a 980 Ti

dat clockspeed tho...1860mhz and it barely match my 1450mhz GTX 980ti...pfff...they can KEEP IT!! LOL :P

Keep in mind that's apparently stock clock, comparing architectures mean nothing really.  Remember when Kepler was out? 1200 mhz on a card was a pretty good OC, now we see maxwell cards doing 1600.

yes but still...the raw performance aint that much greater than that of a 980ti...i was expecting a bit more humff from the 1080...the 1070 will likely not be able to match a 980ti do you think?

Well considering the only benchmarks I've seen so far are only comparing OVERALL score, and not graphics score (the shit that actually matters) I have no actual idea what's going on.

I'm going to run FS Extreme right now at stock clocks, and see what my graphics score is compared to that 10,100 the 1080 gets at stock.

My stock clock on my 980 ti is a lot higher than a reference model though, I boost to 1430 out of the box, and I believe most reference are like 1250-1300?

So Nvidia's taking the piss for making a what's probably gonna be a $500 card outperform OC'd 980 Tis by a reasonable amount?

God damn the brainwashing is strong as fuck. I don't like Nvidia as much as the next guy but I'm not ignorant on a reasonable performance increase.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

yeah around 1300 is a normal boost...mine is also around 1400mhz out of the box maybe even a bit more than that the asus strix has an aggressive overclock...i can't wait for the stream to begin though i think it will be EPIC!

Ok so 1430/7200 gets 9,084 gpu score, so the 1080 is roughly 11% faster than a factory overclocked 980 ti, and probably closer to 20% faster than a reference model.

you think 1860mhz is stock? i mean...1600mhz stock maybe? 1860mhz seems like a lot for a stock clocked card...i don't know...

Like I said before... We can't compare architectures like that, so we have no idea if it's stock or what not

I know it may seem insane but we won't know til more stuff comes out

i really wonder what AMD's response could be to a card like that...i mean if that thing is 10 or 15% faster than a 980ti...that would put it a good 30% faster than a FuryX...AMD would have to rebrand the Fury and FuryX as the R9 490/490X and sell those for like 380$ or something?!

Keep in mind, the 970 didn't even outperform a 780 at launch let alone a 780ti. Actual release drivers will change things quite a bit. Also keep in mind that the 1080 is at stock. So it's still possible an overclocked 1070 can match a 980ti.

the GTX 970 at launch was faster than the 780...i know cause at the time i had an overclocked 780 in my system and i was not able to match the GTX 970 scores....but yeah the 780ti was faster tho...and now we know it's no longer the case in games...pretty close in benchmarks still tho but not in gaming.

Are you gonna watch the stream?

So according to the livestream, the 1080 is faster than both 980 SLI and the Titan X.  Pretty impressive.. wondering what the price tag will look like.

It's $599 and $799 for Founder's Edition

For me it's going to be like an order of magnitude upgrade from GTX 560Ti. I bought that card when I was a poor student and never really needed to upgrade until recently as it performed really well.

Why? This is an actual test, Nvidia just showed power point slides about their claims. I seriously doubt they will double and triple performance just with a driver upgrade.

The truth will probably and somewhere in the middle between this benches and Nvidia's claims today if you ask me.

Those core clocks are insane. Definite 2+ GHz OC coming with AIB partners. And GDDR5X which nobody thought it would have. Wonder if AMD will have X or be stuck with regular GDDR5.

This is cool for people with 970/980 cards, but not much sense for Ti/TX owners.

Hoping there'll be 120Hz 4K G-Sync by the time GP100 rolls around. If not, I'll go with 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + Pascal Titan or Ti.

W8 for 1080Ti then.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

It's possible Nvidia might not do a 1080ti. The Pascal Titan will probably be the card for 4k gamers.

I don't see AMD being able to pull that off with either the 490X or a Fury/Fury X replacement.

Vega should probably be able to do that.

Though Navi and Volta will certainly be two different things from Polaris/Vega and Pascal.

I suppose that it's possible, though Nvidia might not feel there's an incentive to do a 1080ti. I wouldn't hold my breath for it. Though I'd be willing to hold my breath on the 480X being about a 390X equivalent but I'm not sure if it'll be part of the initial launch of Ellesmere/Polaris 10.  Even if the 480X is slower than the 390X, and the 490 is the 390X equivalent, it'll still probably be cheaper than what the 390X costs right now.
