Broadwell-E 6850K benchmarks leaked

2 minutes ago, pyrojoe34 said:

That's what I understood too. Unless you plan on using 4 PCIe x8 or 3 PCIe x16 there's really no reason to spend the extra $200.

Now I just have to wait and see the price on the 6800k... Then I have to decide on the 6800k or a discount 5820k.

I'll probably end up doing the 6800k though...

How soon after the chips come out will be see the new mobos? I'm hoping for an x99 price drop soon...

I am pretty excited to upgrade my 2500K too. Will probably get the 6800K. Only worry right now is if my Hyper212 will be able to handle it with a moderate overclock.

Will we get new motherboards? The socket and chipset will be the same, so I don't really think there is much motherboard manufacturers can do. I would not be surprised if x99 motherboards stay at the same price.

Ha!  You literally just told me NO WAY.  I ain't hating on you for reconsidering, because these are preliminary samples.  It could get just a hair better before release!  If all variables in cooling were equal during testing as stated by the original tester, Broadwell-E looks to be a no brainier with those temp differences.

I know I did... So you better offer a good deal on that 5960x haha.

But I wasn't expecting 10% and 10% at 16C better temps!!!

4 minutes ago, SurvivorNVL said:

That 6900k is so damn close to being an almost stock 4ghz 8-core from Intel.  It's terribly tempting.

The temps are really what are holding my attention...

I will have to see how people do on overclocking but shit this is gonna be hard to avoid buying...

This one should be fine for a H212, it's a bit harsh on Haswell-E (very harsh), but he is showing 16C better temps so fuck yea.

Gigabyte is known to be releasing updated motherboards, others will likely follow suit but for the most part expect x99 to stay in the same price range.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

Well I don't need to worry about that. My custom loop is already dead silent. But still, what I couldn't do with 10% more HP at 16C lower temps...

Plus my CPU's IMC sucks balls so this would be a great chance to swap that.

Fuck. I'm rationalizing buying it. This is over... Fuck

Wow, a 10C reduction in load temps is REALLY nice. That's like, what, a %20 reduction? Hopefully that translates well to higher frequencies/voltages. The improvements in the IMC sounds nice as well, hopefully it pairs nice with DDR4-3000.

Bud, catch me in the high of a 6950x purchase and you'll be really surprised what you can steal the 5960x from me for.  Kinda hard to gauge that timing from half way across the country.

While we have only seen 2 tests so far, 10% on both is promising.  Given my experience with Haswell-E so far, I'm thinking those temp differences are a good sign in the area of OC as well, but who knows?

I'm still hoping for a better IMC.

My last trip to Micro Center, they already had a "Broadwell-E" refresher board from Gigabyte in the store.  I didn't bother to verify that.

Yeppers, the SLI Plus was my first choice for my pc, but I was building on time constraints and the only one they had locally was borked (actually later it looked like my cpu just sucks so yea, I've had very well documented IMC issues).

I was definitely messing around.  I'm dumb, but not that dumb.  :D

I got an interesting scenario, lets say someone picked up an x99 board but no CPU as they are now just waiting on Broadwell-E instead to be released. Since a BIOS update is needed for Broadwell-E to work how much of a bind do you think they might be in?

Depends, some manufacturers have already released updated drivers. I would be surprised if the rest didn't release some by release day.

So a few motherboards are allowing users to update bios's without a cpu, but otherwise they are probably really f'd unless they can borrow a friend's x99 cpu or take it to a tech shop that might have one open already.

Worst case is they buy a cpu on amazon/bestbuy then return it or something.

Yer, but most motherboard bios's are back logged about 3-6 months

Lol. I'm in the same boat as you where I love my 5820K but these benches look so good xD 5820K is already more than enough for me. If I get a job with Intel retail edge I might consider getting the 8 core broadwell-e if they have it for $400.

Current PC: Origin Millennium- i7 5820K @4.0GHz | GTX 980Ti SLI | X99 Deluxe

Yah that's what I'm thinking, it's an EVGA board and it doesn't look like they even released a BIOS for the new CPUs yet.
