GTX 970 vs 980Ti for DOOM 2016 & VR

I currently have an AMD Radeon 7950 GPU. It is the only bottleneck in my system and I need a new GPU for Doom coming out May 13th as well as VR support for the future when I can get my hands on a Vive. I want a NVIDIA GPU for my next card and I am wondering what you guys think would suit me best for this game as well as VR carrying out into the future. The GTX 970 or the 980Ti?

I'm still not sure if I want to spend twice as much money to get a little extra performance. I am currently gaming at 1080p but I would like to run Doom at max settings.

you get almost twice as much performance for twice the price tbh

just wait for next gen if you're not rushing

or a gtx 970/980 will do the job for 1080p

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

980TI right now but wait for Pascal and Polaris if you can. the 970 is a good card but not for much more then 1080p or 1440p maxed out, not sure about VR with it but with a 980TI you can be sure you will be fine for almost anything right now and a bit into the future :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
