B.o.B thinks Snapchat is developing Facial Recognition

The (not so much anymore) famous rapper B.o.B, who also went toe-to-toe with Neil DeGrasse Tyson in early 2016 tweeted out how Snapchat is just developing Facial Recognition as a database perhaps for the government. 

He's not very credible after going on a rant about how the earth is flat, but it definitely makes you think.

I used to like B.o.B as a person but he really showed a strange behavior in the past. Still liking the old songs though.

like FaceBook hasn't been doing that for years now, they even ask you to tag your friends on all the photos - it's like they're building a supervised deep learning neural network

Yep. Just like the categories "close friends" etc. to sort your friendlist.

friendlist is just a codename for "circle of connections and interests" that is used for social engineering

I don't know what happened to him, I liked his music especially his Psycadelik Thoughtz project but ever since then he's been going downhill fast.

It's not just rappers, it's can be anyone of any profession. Ben Carson is a world renowed neurosurgeon, but he thinks archaeologists are lying to us and the pyramids were actually used as storage for grain instead of burying Pharaohs.

While I doubt that is the intention, it could potentially be used similar to how the Russian app that searches the Russian facebook to match a picture to a profile.  Which people are of course using to find and harass people, mostly the Russian 2chan folks finding and outing pornstars.

 

Although, I wouldn't honestly be surprised if the government was helping snapchat succeed.  The FBI was a major investor in Facebook when it looked like it would become popular.  So while I don't think the gov't would create snapchat, I do think they would likely help and support facebook/snapchat/twitter like sites and services simply due to the sheer ease of data gathering. And if they are a financial backer, they can steer the company to be more gov't friendly.
