Make use of those stock coolers

SteinerW

If you a hardware nut like me, you probably have a few stock cpu coolers laying around. Using stock LGA1150 coolers, I got a 4.2 GHz OC on my i5-4690K. I used the double cooler method. Basically I took to stock coolers and sandwiched them together. It actually works quite well, both with Intel and AMD coolers.

I use thermal paste and superglue to join the coolers. You can theoretically stack as many coolers as you want. I would have liked to have added a 3rd Intel heatsink to my stack, but I didn't have one. The AMD cooler can mount like any other AMD cooler, and for the Intel cooler, I used bolts.

I haven't tested the AMD cooler, but the double Intel cooler runs a good 10-15 degrees cooler than a single stocky.

Do you have any pictures of the coolers in your PC?

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Does the CPU heat will melt the superglue?

No. I've been running it for a few weeks and haven't had a problem.

No. The computer running it is at my parents house. I usually control it remotely. I keep it there because they have way better internet than what I can get here.

so my theory of stacking 3 intel heatsinks and ziptie them onto a FX9590 will actually work?

Spoiler

Try it and tell us how it goes.

Haha good stuff! Tip, if you mount an aftermarket PWM fan on it with zip ties, you're in for an even better time. Mind you it's a little harder to jimmy together the mounting to the motherboard.
