No I doubt it. If Trump is elected I am sure the first thing he will be doing before insulting other countries is make our military incredibly powerful and one not to trifle with. Wealth per capita is meaningless cause of the 1% some American billionaires make the country seem great while the standart of living,  purchasing power, etc. From your average Canadian could easily surpass the average US Citizen.

I am studying in the UK right now and everyone I talk to is saying that Trump is saying things that are fascist and he is looking pretty similar to Hitler.  Personally I don't like any of the candidates for one reason or another, but from a practical standpoint, Hillary looks the best.  Also Canada doesn't seem so bad I think I could handle their winters pretty well

There's your mistake.  It all depends on how you measure wealth.

 

As someone above me mentioned, that statistic is not representative of per capita value in the USA.  It is an average.

 

Let's take what is actually valuable to a country's population.  I will keep this dumbed down... because I am dumb...

 

Clean water, forests, minerals, and work (human).  These are inherently what make up the wealth of a country. 

 

1.  Does the USA have more clean water than Canada for it's citizens, per capita?

 

2.  Does the USA have more treed land than Canada?

 

3.  Does it have more minerals/stone than Canada?

 

4.  Does it have a bigger workforce than Canada?

 

Lets take a statistic for GDP as it relates to the division of wealth for countries:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_%28PPP%29_per_capita

 

Oh look:  Canada is 44K per capita to the USA at 54K (IMF).  Now assuming that equal amounts of clean water, forest, and minerals/stone are equal between the two countries (per capita), the difference is a 10K (or roughly 20%).  What is left.... hmmm... workforce, that's right. 

 

The population of Canada is roughly 30 million.  The USA has a population of roughly 300 million.  The difference in wealth is how much per capita again?.. 20%.  So with 10x the potential workforce, you guys produce and retain 20% more wealth per capita.  Does that sound... off?  ...and you said stupidity plays no role in a countriy's economy.  Ha.

 

We have relatively stupid people up here in Canada as well (I am one of them), but the affect on our economy is not as bad as our population is so damn low compared to the USA.  With our resource advantage per capita, with the current state of automation and technology, we should be way ahead of the USA in terms of wealth.  ... but that is another topic all together.

Wait, back up. You just proved that with all of Canada's extra resources per person, they (average Canadian) still produce 20% less than the average American. 

 

You're crossing up domestic product with domestic product per capita. With much less resources per capita (how you were defining wealth) the US produces 10x the domestic output.

The US has ~10x the population and produces ~10x the domestic product. The retained purchasing power (mean GDP) is actually higher in the US than Canada. I'm not sure where you are getting info that it is lower? The source you provide even puts the US at $54k and Canada at $44K. Per capita means that it is divided out by the population.
