No, embedded consoles is more of a thing by Andre Lamothe.  He's an old embedded systems engineer, and makes educational variants where you can build a console yourself to play actual NES carts or SNES carts and so on.  He has a store where you can get the PCBs he makes and other parts for them.  It's pretty much no different than a clone console by people like Yobo who make the Yobo NES or Retrons.

For educational purposes sure.. but outside of that i wouldnt be interested

the retron is ok, but id prefer to have all the real old consoles sat under my tv (like i do now)

not a problem, i can wait. Got all the time in the world

I largely prefer emulators, they make everything look better, perform better and have nice extra features (save state, first thing that comes to mind)

Sure I understand the advantage, but I just prefer to do it the old school way, there is just something charming about using the real hardware and playing the games the way there were designed, - one reason I dont even mod games

Perhaps I am alone in this but whatever :D

(that said I have a PS1 emulator on my nvidia shield but mostly was just dicking around with it)

I do all 3.  However, I'm not shelling out another 100+ bucks when I can buy a Yobo NES off like Amazon for 8-10 bucks then get a a maybe working NES front loader for 100-150 bucks lol.  Plus, the controller ports yobo uses lets me use my actual NES controllers on it.  So, that's a plus.

I like to just collect the real old games and consoles, need to get my collection going again, just ordered a new atart 2600 game off ebay to play on the 2600 Jr I have had all my life :D

Still got my Dreamcast from day 1, a HKT-3030.

N64 NUS-001

PS2 replaced my PS1 also runs homebrew and plays games over SMB now instead of using the disc drive.

XBOX V1.4 with 2TB 7200RPM HDD stored games on HDD which again does not use the Disc drive and i upgraded that IDE to a ATA 133 speed for much faster transfers.

CONSOLE KILLER: Pentium III 700mhz . 512MB RAM . 3DFX VOODOO 3 SLi

Why not just buy a 360? I mean this is cool and all but not so legal yet. a 360 will cost you like 20-40 bucks on Craigslist

I thought the same. I bought a cheap used 360 years ago, flashed it, cut a Sata cable in half, soldered it to the console's PCB and hooked up a spare 500GB 3.5" HDD. Worked like a charm.

I don't really play many games for gameplay anymore honestly. I play most games just for the graphics.
