How to split install.esd?

Gat Pelsinger
Go to solution Solved by Gat Pelsinger,

Welp I had to save those files as .swm and not .esd and now it worked.

I am installing Windows on a different machine but I want the installer to be on a partition on the main drive rather than using a painfully slow USB drive. I have to format the partition as FAT32 or else my firmware can't read it. But this comes with a problem that install.esd is more than 4GiB which is the maximum file size for FAT32. I found a DISM command which splits the install.esd file into multiple files. I ran it and stored the destination files' extension as .esd instead of .swm that I heard. So I have a install.esd and a install2.esd file. The setup boots but when I try to install Windows, it runs into an error and cannot proceed. I did have a feeling splitting that way won't work, so what is the solution?

Microsoft owns my soul.

Also, Dell is evil, but HP kinda nice.
