You keep saying the same thing over and over again ignoring everything I tell you. I've explained to you in detail how driver overhead works and why context is irrelevant, but no one is stopping you from reading the article. In addition to that there are DF videos, which you keep ignoring as well. Article doesn't specifically need to look into driver overhead to discover it.

But there's no context, they're different architectures, DF didn't specifically look into driver overhead, DF isn't a credible source, and AMD always fixes performance after benchmarks are done.

The issue is this. People identify based on their purchase. This means they didn't buy a graphics card, but membership into a group. And as part of that group they quickly move into othering the opposite group. To facilitate this behavior they immediately dehumanize the other group and use confirmation bias to further facilitate their confidence that they and they alone made the right choice.

I just bought a MSI R9 390 and i love it and my best friend has a 970 4gig he loves . we game and have fun with them both .Both cards run very well in most cases and i guess the best card for you would depend on what your doing with it  . im having a little fun with my card sagging .

Story of my GTX 970 G1 Gaming. Bloody sag (that might be why it only runs at x8 in all of my motherboards, unlike my 650ti which has no sag at all and runs at x16).

I got the evga 970 ssc and I wish I had gotten a 390. A lot of the games/mods I play are hitting the 3.5gig roof of the 970. It's performance is good, but the vram is not

That can be a bit deceptive. Games use the VRAM available. So any game that's demanding will jump up to your max capacity. As an example my 290 had 4g, I used around that modding Fallout 4, my 980ti has 6g and I use over 5g modding fallout 4. The interesting this is my 390, used 4g. So the 8g on the 390 is not necessarily an advantage. Why my 390 never used as much VRAM as my 980ti does which has less, that I don't know for sure.

Not exactly. Like I said, it really depends on use case scenario. Lower end CPUs, get a 970, higher end, get a 390. Tessellation based games, 970, VRAM-based games, 390. These are more accurate generalizations.

yes that is true but if you are getting a gpu in that price range, chances are you can afford a compatible cpu

For you, that can be true. But try using weapon effects in Fallout 4, you can't, Nvidia only. To some that's no big deal, to others like myself that's important and adds to the immersion of the game. So me saying the 970 is better because I want to use my Shield, is no different than you saying the 390 is better because it gets better fps in a few games. It's all subjective.
