$2000CAD AMD Build, worth it or nah?

TrinityHigh

I'm just messing around on ca.pcpartpicker.com and I put together this list. Would this be a good choice for a video rendering system and occasional gaming or would a $2000CAD Intel build preform better?

Get a lower end SSD, something like a ADATA SP550, and then get a i5 6600K and an Asus Z170-A. That is just what I would do. Also get a 3TB barracuda instead, I get about 200/200 read and writes so it should be fine. Also fuck noctua fans get something cheaper.

God damn those fans are expensive but no AMD build sucks if you have an option for intel.

for that budget you could get an intel rig that performs a lot better...

even if you want to stick with AMD, just buy an 8350

the 9000 series is just stupid, and only fanboys with no brain cells should be buying those xD

9590, eh. Dunno I'm sure some one will go all AMD on me but I'd personally drop the extra $50CAD and get a 6600k. Of course you'll need DDR4 but it's getting pretty reasonable.

intel is much better

Oh I agree with you, I have a i7 5960X 2way sli 980Ti system. Intel and Nvidia is just what I prefer but I'm not against someone wanting to have a AMD system. All preference eh. I'm just messing around on ca.pcpartpicker for fun. I always get Noctua fans. The quality, silence, and customer service/warranty is second to none. I have my 5960X system kitted out with 6 Noctua NF-F12 LTT Edition fans, and I have 5 Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 in my Z97 gaming rig. I just like them. I'm a FAN boy.. haha :D

Your spending around $300 on cooling! Thats just dumb when your on this kind of a budget. I dont care how good they are. The performance increase with Noctua fans( compared to other fans) are not justifiable in any way possible. Also the intel option of this build would perform better.

Well if you're willing to spend $120 on fans go ahead. I do agree Noctua is make the best fans, no question. This just doesn't seem practical(I guess it's not supposed to be?). Like you said it's preference.

At this point, I'd just sit tight for Zen, unless you need a PC like rightfuckingnow.  Also, it's possible to put together a pretty decent X99 system for around CAD$2500 if you can spare the extra loonies.

They are pricey, no doubt about that, but totally worth it. Switching from stock Corsair Air 540 fans (AF140L) to NF-A14 IPPC's, dropped my GPU's temp when overclocked by up to 8°C. That's pretty crazy imo.

Born to game, forced to work.  -_-
