What are you proud of about your current country? 

So basically tell what is the best thing about your country.

 

I'll start. My country: Finland. Finnish music, Helsinki, Really cold winters (-30 Celsius)

Morocco here

• Only north west african country that didn't turn to shit for some stupid revolution
• No terrorist menace whatsoever
• No guns anywhere, even cops don't have guns, nobody gets to pew pew pew other than the military
• No homos, because they get their legs broken with steel pipes if they try to claim whatever rights on the street

Other than that, it's a shithole. But it's a nice shithole, a shithole with no ISIS, no radical islam, and soon the biggest solar power plant in the world

The good 'ole USA. Specifically Southern California. Best part is the location. I'm walking distance from the beach, 2 hour drive from snow or the desert, and the atmosphere is great. The shitty part is the price of land and rent in my parts. I could live like a king in other parts of the country, but I love the area too much to leave permanently.

I have never been proud of any country I have lived in. Why should I? I had nothing to do with the things my country supposedly stand for and represents.

The only thing I can represent is myself, and I can be proud of my own achievements. I can't be proud of the achievements of others.

The U.S.: The internet (Tim Bernies Lee being the father of the world wide web, but it sits on the infrastructure set up in the U.S.) Blue jeans, made by a Latvian-Jewish American immigrant, GPS, and the airplane.

 

There's a lot to be proud of, and a lot to like.

 

And we have a ton of great people, a lot of fucktards, but a ton of great people. Massive diversity, some incredible landscapes.

UK, not much, other than free healthcare, police that know how to use tasers (looking at you US) instead if guns. The English language, Tim Berners Lee, penicillin and a currently rising Sodalist leader of the Labour party, if he wins the next election I might even have free university.

I really do believe that our country has a lot of problems, but I wish I could think of something good about it that every other developed nation hasn't already accomplished.

 

At least we are first-world.

 

I guess Internet is cheaper here than in Canada.

 

And I really don't envy the ISIS problem that seems to be worse over there in Europe.

 

Also, even if it is very poorly distributed, we have a lot of wealth in this country.

 

There is a lot of business opportunity here.

 

We are more of a tossed salad than a melting pot, so you are likely to be able to find a community you can identify with in America.

I agree with all of this except the internet part.

 

Internet here is a monopoly, there is no ISP where I live the has unlimited data for a home network OR a limited one with a reasonable cost. They're all flat out penny pinchers.

 

I know a lot of people in Canada that have limited bandwidth, but the ISPs simply don't care enough to apply overage fees to them. And I have yet to hear a case where that's true here in the US, where everyone goes by the book.

 

I can go on for days about how bad ISPs have been here in the Midwest, but this isn't the thread for that.

Good things about Norway: free education + hralthcare.

(Things that suck about Norway: government is giving the country away to immigrants, laws are stupid, scools are shitty & badly maintained, electrical cars are given special treatment in traffic because they "save the enviroment" and worst of all the way that social care works is complete bullsh!t)
