Hello, so I've thought about doing what Linus did with his PC built under the desk, and I was wondering if its actually worth it?

I mean it would make cable management and general look of the desk very clean and nice, because there will only be the monitor(s) and the K&B

wont work for uae weather, you will have so much dust to deal with so totally not worth it.

i once tried a slightly getto version.. and ended up snapping the gpu because i didn't bother using ribbon cables..

for the price of a case... id buy the case.. or if you really like the idea mount it to a wall, where its safe and not likely to be bashed by your legs.

Gaming PC: • AMD Ryzen 7 3900x • 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz • Founders Edition 2080ti • 2x Crucial 1tb nvme ssd • NZXT H1• Logitech G915TKL • Logitech G Pro • Asus ROG XG32VQ • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

Yeah, I was wondering about how leg room is going to be... the thing about good looking wall mounted cases, they're mostly iTX, and I really don't want to buy a new motherboard just for that. I'm already on mATX and I don't want to go any smaller.

don't get a wall mounted case! just screw it all down to a piece of wood! (painted of course so it looks cool)  but id stick with a case.. you also have way more dust to contend with on an open case.. as it just settles on it!

yeah thats why I'm getting a case, cause of the dust, my case that I have right now already gets dusty a lot (Enthoo Evolv mATX)

do you run positive or negative pressure in your case (more air in vs more air out) a positive airflow setup actually in my experience causes far less dust build up!

I have 4 intake fans and 1 exhaust fan in my air 540, i have very minimal dust. admittedly there are dust filters and some dust gets stuck in my radiators but theres very little on the components.

I kinda dig the idea, just atach a plexiglass cover over the "PC" under the desk and your legs shouldn't be a Problem

I made myself a whole micro atx case out of wood for myself. It is much smaller than most micro atx cases, it has a clear side panel, superior airflow and has the possibilities to be taken to lan parties because I built a strap onto it for easy carry use etc. I would recommend building a whole PC case out of wood rather than just mounting everything to a piece of wood.

My Rig:

Xeon E5 1680 V2 @ 4.5GHz - Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79 Mobo - 64GB DDR3 1600MHz - 8 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance Low Profile - CAS 10-10-10-27 - AMD Radeon RX 6700XT Sapphire Pulse 12GB - DeepCool E-Shield E-ATX Tempered Glass Case - 1 x 1TB Crucial P1 NVMe SSD - BeQuiet Straight Power 11 850W Gold+ Quad rail - Fractal Design Celsius S36 & 6 x 120mm silent fans - Lenovo KBBH21 - Corsair Glaive RGB Pro - Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

Monitors - 3 x Acer Nitro 23.8" 1080p 75Hz IPS 1ms Freesync Panels = AMD Eyefinity @ 75Hz

Personally I think it's worth it if you have the time to do it, it's really ghetto though unless you're willing to spend a lot of time to make it neat

Desktop: i7-6700K / Asus Z170 S / H100i V2 / LPX 2400Mhz 16GB / 960 EVO 250GB / 2x 860 EVO 500GB / RM750i  / NZXT H440 XB271H + Z22n Monitors

Laptop: Thinkpad T450s / i7-5600U / 12GB / 860 EVO 500GB

Look into getting a Lian Li desk case or something. Way more expensive but it looks pretty and it's actually a decent desk too.

My Build:

Spoiler

Yesh, the best solution for this.

Though if you're crafty, you can probably make one yourself too. It doesn't have to be complex.

That and the main reason to actually use a case for a computer is airflow. When everything is open-air, unless you have fans directing air over the mainboard and graphics card, there is nothing except convection and any room air currents to clear away heat. The desk you recommended at least takes care of that concern. What Linus built, however much of a curiosity it is, doesn't handle that concern. The only thing actively cooled in his setup is the CPU by way of the radiator fan.

Wife's build: Amethyst - Ryzen 9 3900X, 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200, ASUS Prime X570-P, EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 12GB, Corsair Obsidian 750D, Corsair RM1000 (yellow label)

My build: Mira - Ryzen 7 3700X, 32GB EVGA DDR4-3200, ASUS Prime X470-PRO, EVGA RTX 3070 XC3, beQuiet Dark Base 900, EVGA 1000 G6

Something I've been looking for, thank you so much, I guess I'll stick to my Enthoo Evolv mATX :)
