I'd wait for Polaris and get 2 of the best cards, the rest will either be saved or I'll get two additional BenQ XL2730z.

Just saying, those coprocessor so have to be accepted by the program to work, as in, the program has to be coded to use the Xeon Phi. Only a few programs can use it.

As "outdated" and "slow" as you guys might see my rig, I'd rather save that money to pay rent, electricity, internet etc. bills in near future.

 

I wouldn't bother spending Even 5% of that sum on the rig. Would only get a newer GPU (running 550Ti now), a better case and quieter cooling. That's it, really.

Your rig isn't outdated at all nor slow, i have an i7 980x, 1st gen ftw.

It's enough for my needs, just some people here would think that I really need to upgrade this "fossil".

£1,500 to the PC. 

£2,500 to snowboarding stuff. 

Rest put aside for important things.

I'd toss out my current rig and make a beast gaming PC, and buy a macbook pro.

But if it can be spent on other things than tech, I would pay my driving school with it.

There'll probably be some money left, probably enough to still make a new kickass PC

A Bx200 500 gb drive, 8gbs more ram, a 4790k, one of the noctua super air cooler thingies that are as good as a water cooler, 650 xfx, seasonic, or antec psu (Gold eff. at least), good monitor for 1440p, a 290x/390x, new case.

To stay on the topic  :P

After you go balls out on your rig, Don't forget to lavish yourself in a nice chair/desk. These go a long way in making the PC experience more enjoyable. My desk is too tall for me to put my mouse and keyboard on top of it, and the Tray is just a POS. My chair is a Big and tall chair could be much better. Too many times I see people with ballin rigs to have it on a crap desk and 20$ chair from Walmart.
