(Update)Nvidia GP104 Pascal GPU Spotted in a shipment – Roughly ~350mm^2 Die Size, May not feature HBM, but GDDR5X memory

Mr_Troll

Yea, but if it's also 5x the speed that still makes it use the same power. Efficiency is only part of the equation. Now I'm not saying that I'm right and it does use that much power, I'm just saying that you can't say I'm wrong just because it's more efficient.

I didn't say you were wrong, I was just saying, the rumors of it being really power hungry was because Nvidia was trying to double the clock speed, it doesn't need a higher clock speed, as bandwidth is already huge.

So hbm only for the titan as that is supposed to be GP104? Moneygate anyone?

HBM is useless for the low end models so it's fne to save some money there.

I have no idea which card will have HBM and which GDDR5 nor does any of us.

Just wait and blame themy for what they do and not for what they may do in the future based on a rumor.

Hbm is not useless for low end. Could be Hbm 1 on low end and apps not that Nvidia can make cpus for x86. More Hbm is used the more it's cost comes down.

Unless HBM 1.0 has some inherent design limitations ;) Then it wouldn't make sense at all... GDDR5X will be cheaper and easier to implement.

People just want there card to have HBM on their GPU because that's what Nvidia said was next. I agree with them!

People were told Pascal was going to be super duper awesome....wait for Pascal.... wait 4 it....

So some waited... and then they hear GDDR5x..... "what you talking about Willis"?

What limitations? My Fury x does 4k just fine. Don't think HBM 1 will not be used in a lot of future GPU , APU and even CPU. The real limitation is GDDR and why HBM was designed to surpass its limitations.
