Mechanical Keyboard Club!

Dave :)

Hello just a quick question.  I was on my way  to buy a blue switch keyboard, as they feel supreme for me, but the shop has none in stock. Shall I wait for a blue switch or go for the red switches that I have never tested , are they that hideous ? (gonna use it for gaming and typing equally)

Red switches aren't bad. For gaming they are pretty good, and for typing it is up to you as personal preference. Some people like to have the tactile feeling and go for blues/browns, some are ok with switches being linear. Honestly, if you want a mix of gaming and typing, browns are usually the choice that people go for because it feels like a mix between blacks and blues. Red switches is also good for mix of gaming and typing. The linear mechanism makes it great for gaming, and it is great for typing because it is light.

I personally like blue switches, but I also like reds. I got a board for each of the switches, so I just change around depending on my mood. If you really like blues....be patient....mechanical keyboards are not cheap. If you want to spend this much on a mechanical keyboard, better get something you like :D

I have a K90 and i love the red switches for both typing and gaming. I may see if i can get some of those Orings tho to make it a little quieter.

i was the same .. just that i made the wrong choice as red switches don't really suit me .. at all, and jeesus christ the keys are so light obviously i end up bottoming them out .. at the same time they travel like twice as far down as my old keyboard so .. typing is abit of a pain in the arse and i can't find any reason to justify getting a new keyboard so im stuck with this for a few years :p

A look inside, authentic Ducky Shine grey key caps

20130522_130356_zpsa565df33.jpg

Partially in the the key cap swap, I'd left some switches uncapped to show the types of switches the 78 Version uses...to the left of the four greens are four whites, and to the left of those are four grey switches. I'm mentioning this because you cannot really make out the difference in color.

Just completed swapping out the key caps, it does look good on its own like that...oh yes, you can also see the Ducky wrist rest I'd gotten yesterday.

CoolerMaster makes excellent mech KB's, I have the Storm Trigger Cherry Red and a Quick Fire TK Cherry Blue, can't say enough good things about them.

Not a problem dude, I guess prices in Europe and Asia can never compare with those in the US, we get the shaft price-wise....  Still, price of games here is, mostly, cheaper than those in the US. Got a copy of Metro Last Light Limited Edition, cost me a little less than 40USD.

I've had bad experiences with Razer products but I liked the feel of their BW MX Blues. Though at shop two arrow keys got stuck :/ . Bought a SteelSeries 6Gv2. Love it. It's amazing, I love the linear feel of blacks over the tactile blues (BW Ultimate) and browns (Logitech G710+). Can't wait to try out reds. If I'm gonna have a next keyboard (6Gv2 can't break), I'm gonna get a Quickfire TK (Maybe pro if I want the numpad).

you think EU and Asia are bad try NZ and AUS. we get shafted on price for everything. COD games are usually around $130 for regular editions. 2gb gtx 680 is $900, titan is $1800. exchange rate is around 80c

As you guys know, I'd gotten the Ducky Shine II Special Ed with white key caps and green backlight/LED....

20130521_162217_zps551d405c.jpg

The snag is, my case has red LED and fan, and it really rankle in my mind.....the colors just didn't jell. After a couple of days struggling with it, I'd no choice but to drop by the local tech mall, got myself a green LED strip and green fan....now, all is right with the world again.
