Software Nostalgia Thread

A lot of things have changed in the past decade, and along with those are the way we use programs. For example, I miss using Kazaa and Winamp to download (ahem) and play my music, and see those fancy Milkdrop visualizations. I also miss JetAudio, which was a cool thing back then. Right now, I just have Spotify and for a relatively cheap price all of my music cravings are solved.

 

What about yours? What programs do you miss using and what have they been replaced with?

The OLD MS Paint, like Windows 98 Paint.

Or just some old games, like SimCity2000, but nothing is stopping me from still playing that.

I sure miss good old fashion netscape.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I'm not sure, honestly. I mean, I guess I miss our old "kitchen computer" that my dad and I build way back that ran GTA: Vice City maxed at 1440x900 on integrated graphics...

 

But even then, we have mostly the same computer sitting in his bathroom (original motherboard bit the dust I think). It has a red 80mm fan in the front and I honestly miss that.

 

Oh, and then his computer that he uses now. It has these bars on the sides of the front that light up blue and they're badass. :P So much Vice City on those two. :P

Goddang Vice City. Just hearing the title makes me cower at the recollection of that devilish RC helicopter piloting mission.

That's sweet! I can't wait to try out GTA V, too. Although I admit that I only played Vice City and San Andreas, and a bit of III. :P

 

I tried to get a Dragonball mod working for Quake 3 Arena on my dads PC, and I never succeeded which broke my Dragonballfanboyheart.

Haha, speaking of Dragonball, I used to play MUGEN on DOS with a bunch of Dragonball characters. I don't know if anybody here knows (or remembers) that game.

MS Office Picture Manager on WinXP I think it was Office 97.

It was an awesome picture software you could make some of the best adjustments and picture fixes.
