What Office/Word Processor do you use?

I grew up on WordPerfect but today I use a combination of WordPerfect, Office 2010, 2013, and WordPad.

I primarily use Google Docs for working, as I don't have to remember to save and there's no transferring between laptop and desktop. 

 

If I need to work locally, I'll use Apache Open Office.

Libre Office since it comes with Ubuntu. I use Open Office on windows though.

Currently (As i'm typing this) waiting for office 365 to finish installing so i can re-write my CV

Wordpad works in emergencies.

What made you go with that over regular Office?

for 90% of my office needs i just use libre, because its free and it works semi-decently.

 

although, for advanced spreasheet needs excel is FAR superior.

I got so frustrated with LibreOffice that I bought MS Office. It's no competition.

 

Loving the free 1TB of OneDrive storage too, it's a godsend.

I love MS Office, it's awesome. One of my favorite things is how the cursor slides forward when you type instead of jumping ahead to the next spot, it just makes for a much more pleasing experience.

$80 for what is essentially Office Pro with software assurance for 5 people plus 1TB of cloud storage per user per year. If you were to buy that outright:

 

OneDrive ($48/year/200GB x 5) = $240

Office Pro 2015 ($499 Outright x 5) = $2495

Skype 60 Minutes (10.7c/m, 60 minutes, 5 user) = $30

Total cost to buy 1 Year worth = $2765.

 

That does not include the automatic software updates either.

Literally bae in comparison. The Wikipedia function is so useful and the sheer number of useful templates, it's intuitive too. It's no longer a distraction or a hindrance, you can just use it and it will do what you wanted to. Also, Publisher is no longer a necessity.

In the past I got 2003 for $15 thru college and 2010 for $10 thru the military via the MS Home Use Program (HUP) so this time I have to pay on my own.

For me, I use office 365. Why did I choose that? Well a few reasons.

1. You always get the most up to date Office suite when it comes out.

 

2. You can pay monthly or yearly (yearly you save a few bucks). Sometimes there are deals for the yearly one as well. Newegg had a select number of Personal Office 365 1 year for about $40 or $30 bucks I think recently.

 

3. Buying Office 2016 you get MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

Office 365 you get MS Word, Excel PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, Acess and 1tb of OneDrive storage as well as 60 Minutes of Skype Calling (calling telephone numbers via internet).

 

4. You can pay for the Home (5 installs on desktop pc/mac, 5 installs on mobile at $99.99 1 year or $9.99 monthly) or Personal (1 desktop PC/mac install, 1 mobile install for $69.99 or $6.99 monthly) and there is a University option as well (2 device pc/mac and/or mobile for $79.99 4 years. Only available for current students with a school email account). There are also business options.

 

5. With the Home subscription, 5 different MS accounts can use option. You can have 5 different people using the same subscription. You can then split the cost 5 ways (unless there is a child using it I guess), so that's $20 a person for a year, $2 monthly. Each account would then get 1 pc/mac install, 1 mobile install, 1tb of OneDrive storage, and 60 minutes of skype calling.

 

6. If you do the monthly you can always stop paying for it for a period of time if you are not going to use it. Then later start paying again.
