minecraft server specs

Does a gpu effect a minecraft server or is it just cpu? The computer has an i7 4770 and 8GB of ram with no discrete gpu is that ok and its only going to run the minecraft server and nothing else.

It's fine. I'd add a 15$ GPU to take care of the OS display, but that's just me. Give it a try!

You'll have no problems, I ran a local server on an Athlon X2 for a while with no issues.

Desktop: i9 11900k, 32GB DDR4, 4060 Ti 8GB 🙂

pretty sure only the CPU matters. you'll want (not even necessarily need) a graphics processor, but the 4770 already has that.

It's all cpu. I've been running custom servers for 5 years now. PM me if you have any more questions.

Yeah thats what counts the CPU. The GPU cant do anything when running the server. (last time i ran a server was a year ago) But what i found to be the best way to run a smooth server is to have a cpu with a good amount of Cache. My 8350 ran the server better than a 3570k.

Yeah, that's why I said it's fine. I would add a 15$ GPU, but I have some friends with many emergency GPUs for cheap so I always throw them in anyways. Personal choice.

No, MC servers do not need a GPU

even with no iGPU or GPU you can access it remotely through terminal and run the server

Maybe that kid was trying to say 'yam', and mispronounced it as 'wam'.

A yam is, coincidently, similar to a potato.

Isn't a yam a sweet potato?

A sweet potato isn't a potato.

Not the same, but similar.

More similar to a potato than a banana, that's what I was tryna say.
