Price - $100-120 US Dollars

Would you buy one of these? If it's around $100 then I would be Ok with it but the Xbox branding probably means it'll cost more.

Edit: More photos of it

I mean... You've been able to buy external HDDs since the Xbox One came out, though I guess it being green is a complete game changer.

But no, I probably wouldn't, mainly because I have one game installed on my X1: NHL 16.

if its only powered by USB3.0 i might be interested, even if only to gut it for the usb3.0 to sata converter.

(those things are a bitch to find here, especially if your old folks think everything on the internet is a scam...)

And it has similar performance to the 100GB SATA 1 5400RPM HDD that came in my early 2006 Toshiba Tecra M5.

IKR? And I should also test the Samsung 160GB PATA HDD that's in my other old laptop-since the original 60GB Hitachi managed to sustain its 141MB/sec transfer rate in a USB 3.0 adapter.

Yea, this was announced over 2 months ago: http://www.engadget.com/2015/08/05/xbox-one-seagate-game-drive/

Also, its a portable 2TB usb3 external...in a pretty green housing. If you can find one for the same price as any other 2TB portable, go for it. Otherwise just get whatever is cheaper.

When in doubt, re-format.

IKR. It looks sweet. But I'm having a bad feeling about this and what it means for Xbox's future. This works with Xbox One, 360 AND WINDOWS 10, which means that they're planning on making a gaming machine for Windows 10.

Xbox = gaming. It is not a brand about consoles or one which sells consoles despite popular belief.

I think there might not be a real 9th gen console from MS. They may just make a $400-500 PC which runs windows 10 with the metro interface enabled by default and some extra software features like Xbox Live.

Cos right now Xbox One is an underpowered PC equivalent to a R7 260 and a core i3. You see, Xbox is now a brand about gaming (for better or for worse). With Windows 10 they don't need Xbox One anymore. They could just have all AAA titles and games in the windows store and sell you a prebuilt PC instead of a console. They'd make the same amount of money.

Just advertise it as Xbox 4K (for 4K gaming) or Xbox 1080 (for 1080p and cos bigger = better lol).

I couldn't care less about the future of Xbox, consoles should just die, if people want cheap prebuilts then manufacturers should focus on that

Gaming services should be come easier to use, steam big picture mode is a step in the right direction, im sure micosoft could do better, a small PC with the xbox store front/interface, that lets you get all your PC games through a simple interface

That means devs only have to develop for one platform, there will be no bullshit exclusivity, no need to port things badly, etc etc etc

I have a big feeling this is what Microsoft's vision is cos on Windows Phone you can have games branded as "Xbox games" despite the fact that you can't play them on any Xbox console. MS wants to make 1 platform for all devices so it would make sense for them to quit consoles and focus on PC (Cos thats where all the money is!).

How is the metro interface not easy to use? Ok take away everything except Windows Store, Cortana and your games then it's perfect for a console.

Metro is shit, its not even on PC anymore with windows 10

There is NO reason pressing the Xbox button on your controller would not launch the Xbox interface on PC for those that want a simple interface etc

but yeah one platform makes more sense, no point making life harder for the devs

IT is. It's just been renamed. It's called "Tablet mode". You have to go to action center or settings (either works) to enable it.

TBH I liked the metro UI for tablets (and if i had a touchscreen monitor I would have bought windows 8.1 instead of 7).

8.1 was better on tablets than 10 is IMO, though 8.1 was more annoying when using the desktop so swings and roundabouts I guess

Safe to say that MS have not nailed the interface yet
