Train Simulator DLC. Excessive DLC

So I heard that there was an excessive amount of DLC, and that it was quite costly. I didn't expect it to cost £1.8k! (and is that with the discount applied too?)

Madness, I wonder if anyone will actually buy it all?

so, i asked a train enthousiast about this, and he replied the following:

 

train simulator's target audience is for the people that dont have the space or time to build a model train set.

the base game aims to deliver "the base set of trains and enviroments" and the DLCs are train sets, priced to match the concept of buying extra model trains.

 

the model train folks usually buy new trains over time, some of them easily spending multiple times the amount train simulator + DLC costs.

As @manikyath has said, $2000 is nothing compared to what real life model trains are priced and would cost you in money and time. Model trains are expensive, just look at any hobby/train model store page: http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/HO-Scale-Locomotives-s/1450.htm

 

Literally hundreds of dollars for a single locomotive. Compare that to a $10-$20 DLC...

Meh, I heard that for Flight Simulator. Say you want to fly from California to Australia, which takes about 14 hours. Some actually "fly" for 14 hours!
