Computer as space heater?

Anyone ever used their PC to heat their room/house? I mean, i know it's not quite that time of year yet, but it's already getting pretty cold some days where i live. I plan on doing the same this year, but last year when my room got a little too cold i would just start folding on full and wait a few hours. Is it just me or does anyone else do this?

Btw, i dont pay my own electricity bill so efficiency isn't really my goal here  :P

Anyone that was stupid enough to buy a FX-9590 and quadfire 295x2's could boil water.

It's a good idea but no, it's not something I do / did. 

I just put heating on like a normal person  ;)

Grab your nearest AMD processor, or AMD laptop my preference is the HP Pavilion.  Hook 'em up and stand over them.

Better idea is to have a laptop, set it to render for a bit, and sleep with it. Even with quad 290Xs, even if you live in a tiny single-room apartment insulated with aerogel, it's not gonna cut it, unless you're willing to wait.

I used mine as a space heater in the summer to keep my room at 34C. I was mining ZiftrCoins and folding so in the winter I plan to have a nice little warm room and maybe even open my window to combat the heat of 2 GTX760s OCed and i5 4670K OCed.

Kept my bedroom at about 60*F clear through January in the frigid Michigan winter last year. Had 8350 stock speed with 6950 stock reference (idled at about 70*C) last year.

Ran Folding at home near 24/7 with two R9 290's last winter, didn't have to turn the heat on at all for my room.

It's usually -15F in the winter were I live and I still have to open my window if my computer is in my room. (4770K @ 4.4GHz, GTX 780) Granted it was only 77-78F in my room but that's way too hot for my taste.

Better idea is to have a laptop, set it to render for a bit, and sleep with it. Even with quad 290Xs, even if you live in a tiny single-room apartment insulated with aerogel, it's not gonna cut it.

Well my last pc was dual 780's and an i7-4930k. All overclocked and water cooled. The i7 was actually running very hot, i just got a bad chip idk how it passed testing honestly. But that thing could practically heat my bedroom on idle. The PC actually met it's death when i disassembled it due to it getting so hot the tubes for the coolant were melting xD

(And i had like 5 radiators in that thing and ran the fans on 100%)

I usually have to turn the AC on my room gets so hot from my 2 PC's running. I have an old AMD build that I have for my friends to use when they come over to LAN and it gets entirely too hot after an hour or two.

my pc is always used as a heater, i swear there is an invisible sheet when my door is open. You take one step in and you know its 10 degrees hotter, take that step out and its cool again and you wouldnt even know that whats in front of you is warmer.

I used to have 4 Butterfly Labs Singles each doing 60 GH/s mining Bitcoin and also 4 AMD Radeon HD 6950's mining Litecoin with an FX-4130 CPU all in the same room at the office.
