don't feel bad, it has taken us over 2000 years to learn what you are learning in a few days, its super hard work. most of the things you are unsure about someone else was along time ago and spent their life trying to figure it out and if they did, they ended up in the history books. just keep swimming. :)

im in special maths class. (its for those who struggle with math) and i have been warned that i migth fail the class.

I'm not gonna shut you down or anything but your career plans may be vastly different later on.  I used to want to be a programmer and now I'm about to go into mechanical engineering..

@Knaj I was personally being bullied in 3rd through 6th grade. I talked to counselors, and we managed to sort everything out.

 

Everything always, always gets better :)

 

True that! I remember in elementary there was a kid named clifford who was the grade above me in a 3/4 split grade class who used to call me maxi pads and push me into the blackberry bushes. Halfway through the year I literally just asked him to stop calling me that and he never did again. I don't even think some kids know that their jokes hurt other peoples feelings.

That's not true. It's homeschool, not solitary confinement. Home-schooled kids can still go out and make friends. I know a few home-schooled people and they are very normal, socially speaking.

Eh, homeschooling doesn't always have the best effect on social skills all the time. Especially if you have home schooling because of said social skills in any way, shape, or form.

Generally one does not meet people when they are home schooled. Either way social skills will not be good by the end of it. Ive seen kids go from home school to public school and they just dont fit in.

 

Even though the environment certainly helps, it really depends on the person. I used to be a very introverted person at school, I would hardly talk to people.

 

I have asked my home-schooled friends about this aspect of life because I was curious, and they told me that they made friends through social events (like conventions, gatherings, parties, etc.); places like arcades, the mall, etc; and work.

Eh, homeschooling doesn't always have the best effect on social skills all the time. Especially if you have home schooling because of said social skills in any way, shape, or form.

 

I do agree that going to a school that is not your house is generally good. You're exposed to different views, and a wide range of personalities (just to name a few things); factors that can help a person learn and grow in the real world. I also agree that, if a kid is having social problems, he should not be taken away from said social environment. It would be like banning your teenage child from touching cars because he dented your car while learning how to drive.

 

However, flat out saying that home-schooling will make you have no social skills is wrong.

I remember once taking a summer law clerk out to lunch with a group of lawyers and, during the conversation, she began to bash homeschoolers. I advised her that not only was my wife homeschooled K-12 (and graduated magma cum laude from her university), but my kids are homeschooled. As it turned out, three of the attorneys at the lunch were also homeschooled and two of them were homeschooling their kids.

There is a gross misperception about how homeschooling works. We are members of a co-op, our children are involved in theater, dance, art, athletics, and other extracurricular activities with other homeschooled kids and non-homeschooled kids. They do work on computers, go to the zoo and museum regularly, and we can raise them according to our values. Of course, homeschooling is not for everybody and wanting to be homeschooled to avoid a problem with one person at school seems somewhat extreme.

That being said, I also don't believe in the "don't run from your problems, face them!" cliche. You must do what is in your own best interest, and avoiding problems rather than "facing them" is often time the better part of valor. Ultimately, you and your family need to make a decision concerning your schooling (homeschooling, private tutoring, private schooling, or otherwise) based on numerous factors, including your current circumstances and your future.

This is going from experience in Australia Well in my state. To get in Uni (College for you Mericans) You need to have gone to a proper school and get a High school certificate to get into any place like uni. Also there is still bias in college were they will most likely pick a students that has gone to a proper school then being schooled at home. I also had faced a lot of bulling at my old school and still sometimes at my current school. The only thing that fixed it was giving them a good old punch. You also make sure you parents have a good chat with the parents of the kid that is bulling you because most of the time they parents will be shocked and the kid will be in deep shit.

ok thanks! i am in 6th grade and over the summer i did 8th grade math.

You're so young man. Unless you feel threatened or you're starting to get depressed, I don't think home schooling is the best bet. I know three kids who are homeschooled, and they say they have two hours of school work a day. And, if they really wanted to they could finish their schoolwork in one month for the entire year. To some, that may seem awesome, but I'm pretty sure from what I've heard that it would get a bit boring. 

 

I'm heading to 9th grade and I've been bullied I guess. But, then again, I do a lot of stupid stuff. Unless you've been physically attacked, I wouldn't recommend becoming home schooled.

its more of grades and what you have done with your life up to that point, don't stress to much, I had the grades and act score to get into ivy league, the differnce isn't as much as the price is. I'm going to guess stem major of some kind? if so, study math as much as you can.

I just found out you are only 11. Dude by the time you are ready to go to uni or what ever most likely you will not be interested or MIT might even be closed. More jobs will be created in the future and one might interest you. So don’t make decision now before you are even in high school. Don’t not limit yourself before you even got to college

You're so young man. Unless you feel threatened or you're starting to get depressed, I don't think home schooling is the best bet. I know three kids who are homeschooled, and they say they have two hours of school work a day. And, if they really wanted to they could finish their schoolwork in one month for the entire year. To some, that may seem awesome, but I'm pretty sure from what I've heard that it would get a bit boring. 

 

I'm heading to 9th grade and I've been bullied I guess. But, then again, I do a lot of stupid stuff. Unless you've been physically attacked, I wouldn't recommend becoming home schooled.

don't feel bad, it has taken us over 2000 years to learn what you are learning in a few days, its super hard work. most of the things you are unsure about someone else was along time ago and spent their life trying to figure it out and if they did, they ended up in the history books. just keep swimming. :)
