Logan tests the A10-6800K with 2400Mhz RAM, up to more than 10 FPS improvment over 1600Mhz

We all knew that APU were better with faster RAM, but what I didn't excepted was it to be this fast.

Seems interesting. I might have to watch that over again.

There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Just some helpful stuff: You're - You are, Your - Your car, They're - They are, Their - Their car, There - Over there.

Proves my point. Apus are useless piece of crap. Take normal CPU like i3, phenom ii x4 or FX-6300 and a dedicated GPU like 7770/650ti and stomp all over the APUs while retaining ability to upgrade in the future.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

If you're on a really tight budget, an APU can be a godsend.

I'm looking forward to seeing how powerful APUs are in a few years. They have potential, and I would love to see them become truly competitive with Intel.

They have no potential to me. A low end GPU is multiply times as powerful as APU and if you count in price to performance they destroy apus. I'd rather pay 500$ for a build multiple times as good as 400$ build.

Which? As far as I know pretty much all low end GPUs are awful.

Take a look at the builds that don't feature the apu. You can add few bucks here and there to make a more polished build than for example TK's one but overally all of them stomp all over apus.

2600MHz RAM is very expensive though, you may as wel buy a CPU and a dedicated GPU.

that was my initial though, but then I went and looked on newegg and you can get 8gb g.skill 2400MHz ram for 70 bucks, cheapest 1600 was 30 I think (didn't look at capacity though...

Which? As far as I know pretty much all low end GPUs are awful.

they may be awful but still better than any apu... a 7770 is $100.  If I were building a cheap gaming pc I'd go with that over an APU...

For what it's worth TTL already did this (though I don't believe it was in a video review) and found that combining faster ram (think he only went up to 2133mhz) and a decent overclock you can actually get some solid perfomance out of an APU. I'm excited for Kaveri this fall, really think the move to steamroller/GCN will make these reasonable competitors to some of the low to mid tear GPUS.

As i said price to performance they are beyond any limits of crapiness, same price CPU+GPU will destroy an APU. You add few bucks and you are in a whole different world. Re-read my last posts. ;p

Intel processors are a bit different because they also happen to set standards in CPU class...

I doubt kaveri will come this year to desktops; if anything, it will require fm2+ motherboard.

Sure they aren't great at the moment but the potential is there and AMD is showing that.  For super budget builds and people who don't really play anything other than runescape or LoL it is fine.  Not everyone can afford a dedicated gpu setup.

If you can afford an APu you can afford a dedicated GPU, end of story. You really say that 50$-100$ difference for multiple performance is not worth it and that some people wont shell out that?.

That is a lot of money to some people, yes.  Would I run an apu? No, but I am fortunate enough to be able to afford expensive items.  Also the cost difference is larger than $100 especially if you are running on the intel platform.  The apu is also killed when running at 1080p, but a large majority of entry level gamers still play at 720p.

I'd like to see an APU build that is smaller than 400$ and has all vital parts that arent total crap. And you can get better parts for slightly more.

I have yes, tk421's build is pretty damn good for basically 500 if you remove the cost of the xbox controller.  But the apu builds went for nicer overall components so the you could bring the price down on them more.  Obviously they suck compared to tk421's.  It would be awesome if AMD could release a set top box-like apu system for under $400 (like you said) and use it for light gaming and media.
