DunGoofed

You came here JUST to tell a person their comment was dumb, you didnt even provide a counter argument, you just acted like a 12 year old and said "wheres the dislike button". THATS why your comment was useless.

Did it ever occur to you that It was said in JEST? Jeez man lighten up

r9 390 if you would switch to higher res. in future with the same card.

And why not if you can afford it even if its expensive than 970?

All these off-topic posts.... making it go to the top of the forum..

Stop measuring dicks...You guys are not helping the OP anymore.

When it comes down to performance, 390vs970  their pretty equal across the board @ 1080p you & many people wouldnt notice AT ALL which was which between them when playing.

I game at 1080p/1440p, but move past that, and the 390 will have the slight edge over the GTX 970.

The VRAM the 970 has, 3.5GB+0.5GB does NOT give any issues at all (I have one, playing at 1440p fine)

Both cards can Overclock fine (do not compare the R9's 1150Mhz vs the GTX's 1300mhz and think one destroys another, diff GPU architecture so the MHZ cannot be compared)

IMO most 390's will do 1100-1175Mhz with relative ease, like the GTX 970 hitting 1350-1450Mhz with ease. Both giving similar performance again.

The only time games give these cards issue, is due to a shitty porting job, or bad programming, which affects all GPU's, not just these two.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Pretty much the same goes for any graphics card-and if devs were better at actually programming, we wouldn't be having performance issues which cause Nvidia and AMD to release specialized drivers for the broken games.

Edit: Devs doing their job better would probably see AMD come out on top due to the raw processing power of their GPU -think mining.

Trust me, nobody thought the comment "where is the dislike button" was useful in helping this dude deciding which GPU to get.

he should get the r9 390 because it has more vram, it's more powerful and the 970 is slightly louder and power consumption is about the same so...

i would buy the r9 390 imo...

The 390 requires more power, and they perform almost equally, they beat eachother at different things. The 8gigs on the 390's side might help "future proof" it though. In the end its up to him.

Cheers, also from what I have been hearing/reading from around the industry, the AMD cards seem to be benefiting much more from DX12 than Nvidia, now it is still early days, and lots can change, but with the information we currently have I would say it is looking more positive for AMD Gpu's than Nvidia Gpu's in terms of what is going to be more future proof (benefit more) with DX12 gaming.

Before you jump at me and say im biased, I have a MSI 980ti in my rig right now and have just been playing GTA at 4k with G-Sync (so awesome), so I dont have a bias either way, I only care about what does the best and what is the best buy for consumers like you guys out there.

Whichever is cheaper, but if prices are similar I would go 390

390 all day every day. More VRAM, both to help with games in the future as well as if you decide to go beyond 1080p. Outperforms the 970, and will only get better with DX12.

Get this one

Asus hasn't been the best on AMD cards, Sapphire is fantastic and cheaper. Also, as an owner of a 970 i recomend the 390, not cause the 970 is bad but simply because the 390 is slightly better, huge memory buffer and cheaper.

People say that the 390 outputs more heat into the case than the 970 (because it has higher TDP). How much would it actually increase the temperature of my CPU? I ask because I have a 4790k and it's already hot and don't want to stress it with extra heat.

By the way you dont need more then 8gig for gaming.

650 PSU would suffice..

i have a smiliar system and even with the 390 i dont go over 500.

Get a gold standard though.. Possibly Corsair RM650?

Yeah or maybe since I made the video, ask the person who has tested a bunch of 970's and a bunch of 390's.. lol
