Do a clean install and you will not be experiencing this. Anytime you upgrade an OS from one version to another, you will carry over many errors from the previous, and run the risk of introducing new ones. A clean install forgoes all this and should yield MUCH better results.

When in doubt, re-format.

You don't necessarily need to d a completely fresh install. Instead, if you're getting problems with your upgraded version, just mash F10 on startup and Factory Restore. It's just as good but without the hassle of having to go through setup.

i meant when you did the upgrade, you were give the option to either keep your files and programs or clean them. keeping them causes so many errors

no way I'm going to reinstall every single thing I have installed on my PC, do you realize that would take me like 2 days of just downloading? not to mention setting it back as it is, I don't have the nerves for that kind of thing.. also it crashes whenever I try to use my graphics tablet.

But if a clean install works then ok, but upgrading = fail

If you have a TON of junk on your computer before, an upgrade will be horrible. If you had a relatively clean OS, then the upgrade should be ok. As someone who built their own computer, you should be prepared to have to re-format your drive and start fresh sometimes. Its the nature of the beast.

When in doubt, re-format.

Likely most of your issues are being caused by drivers and 3rd-party software. If you did an upgrade on a blank windows 7 install, likely it would work fine.... except maybe drivers.

1. Did you "do the trick" to make it install sooner? This means you forced it to install before it was ready for your machine.

2. Many drivers were barely ready for Windows 10. Try updating your key drivers by going to the manufacturer's website (key as in, network, sound, video, motherboard etc).

3. Manually run updates for every third-party program you use.

I forget the post, but, somwehere a Microsoft exec explains why people were not getting upgrade right away. Essentially, if you system did not meet a certain criteria (x number of people have tested using your setup and its worked fine type deal) then it wouldn't install immediately. It could have been as much as weeks before it would be available.

Heck, I forced mine to update too. Thankfully, after updating 2 programs and my network drivers, all crashes are gone for now.

well I hope you're right, I'm updating every "key" drivers that I could find, everything for my MoBo (sound, lan, GPU, and others) so I hope it will be fixed, because I admit it, this UI is lovely and the smoothess is as good, and I said I liked it and enjoyed it until the recent crashes

Yup I've reinstalled win 7 at least once a month for the last year on my laptop (due to a small and dying HDD).. Then I bought an external back up drive.. Saved me so much time when formatting

most issues are because of no clean install. did you do a clean install or saved all of your files and programs?

Actually, not really... the issue is between the chair and the screen. Having a correctly configured OS is the user's responsibility. 99% of hardware has stable drivers. The reason a 'clean' install is what gets recommended? because it is easy.
