that doesnt really solve the bandwidth issue, also might be a potential security flaw if someone where to edit a part of the torrent files and get a compromised win 10 in to allot of pcs

editiing would change the SHA-1 hash and the MD5 hash. Easily detectable.

well both of those are no longer considered top notch and i would expect Microsoft to be using the more recent SHA-2,  while unlikely it is always a possible that in larger files it is theoretically possible for a file change to not edit the hash

generating an identical hash is retardedly hard and takes alot of time. by then the odds of it still being a valid way of distributing malicious files is slim to none. Unless the North Koreans figure out a way to do it. Or the Russians. Or the Chinese.

Torrenting does solve (or at least alleviate) the bandwidth issue, unless the entire internet everywhere is congested.

So this staggered deployment thing was probably for good reason. Five times bigger than Apple, you don't hear that often in the IT world.

The difference is apple is streaming video for their press events. MS is enabling the download of an OS. Saying it's bigger than an apple event is comparing apples to coconut water.

I'm debating on installing it on my second SSD. I recently uninstalled and went back to windows 8.1 because the nvidia drivers kept crashing literally anytime I played any game.

If you have reserved your copy you can force the install with a tool from MS. Doing this now on my laptop.

link: Click! It will download Win10 and you can choose to immediately install or put it on a USB drive to install it on another PC.

Looking at the site again... seems you don't need to have reserved it at all... might just work for all PC's with win7 sp1 or 8.1. I'd say, try it! :)

I have no signature

It seems Microsoft was throttling it if you weren't using your computer; the second I left mine for 10 minutes and came back, it was pumping the life out of my fibre and the folder had gone from 140MB to around 3GB

So, it downloaded faster if you were AFK? That seems a good idea. I don't want my connection lagging as hell when I'm playing something online (plus, my PC is basically always on, even if I'm not even in the same city as it)
