What happens IF AMD goes out of business?

IMPERIUS

I hope they go out of business, then ATI comes back with some legitimate CPUs and GPUs. Not just rebrands.

ATI isn't a company anymore... If AMD goes bankrupt ATI isn't magicly going to exist anymore... Also ATI never made CPU's

i dont think antitrust rules would allow this but i think the X64 patent would be free for any one to use

so we might see samsung or IBM or other big factorys creating x64 cpu's

nvidia and intel won't let AMD go completely out of business because of anti-trust issues

In that scenario ... I think IBM would rise up , take everything and run ...

... Life is a game and the checkpoints are your birthday , you will face challenges where you may not get rewarded afterwords but those are the challenges that help you improve yourself . Always live for tomorrow because you may never know when your game will be over ... I'm totally not going insane in anyway , shape or form ... I just have broken English and an open mind ...

I would blame this forum for giving AMD so much hate causing them to end it all ;) na but if it was to happen I would feel bad for the people who just saved up $1000 for that brand new gaming rig they were going to get around to ordering next week.

Motorola G5 Master Race, don't forget Western Digital and there monochrome display adapters ;)

AMD actually needs to stay in the game and be competitive for the PC hardware market to survive. If AMD dies then NVIDIA and Intel will have no competition and therefore no need to make better products. Remember when intel didn't release new CPUs for like, ever when AMD wasn't releasing any competitive CPUs. That would pretty much happen forever with intel and NVIDIA.

AMD we need you. I may be an NVIDIA fanboy, but I still respect your place in this market.

Prepare to see a 1000$ GT 1050

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

Stupid America/EU

will force intel and nivida to split

beacuse (America/EU) thier unlogical Bastards

it's called anti-monopoly and trust busting

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

Nobody will buy Nvidia cards because of how over priced they would be.

It won't affect anything. There are enough resources available that will bring another competitor out. On the cpu side, Samsung, any one of the flash guys, the Atom guys, yadda, yadda, yadda. So no change there.

And NVidia still has to contend with the largest gpu manufacturer out there. They certainly can't sit on their laurels and watch their market share vanish just because a competitor went tits up.

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!

I doubt it would happen. Intel would basically have a monopoly in the CPU market, and Nvidia in the GPU market.

Have fun using a 32 bit Intel CPU if Intel lost the X86_64 licence from AMD.
