Is it just more or are the police getting way more paranoid?

A friend of mine was sitting outside his House at 11 pm and was approached by an officer, and the officer demanded for his ID and asked him what he was doing and a bunch of other stuff.

It's a bit odd this would happen to him.

well, he very well might have been waiting there for a drug dealer or something..

Not saying he was, but better be safe than sorry

They might have been looking for a suspect at the time, or keeping their eyes out.

I don't have much of an issue with police, but that's because the times where I've interacted with them I followed directions, didn't act like an entitled douche, and was on my way without quarrel. And to that point, I've only had pleasant experiences with em, largely because of my attitude.

Heres a wonderful tip. If you don't want to be shot by police, or attacked by police. If they say to get on the ground, get on the ground. If they say put your hands behind your back, put your hands behind your back. if they say get out of the car, get out of the car. If they ask for your ID, give then your ID. turns out, if you put a little trust into police, then they don't have to be worried your going to pull a knife out of your waste-band and stab them between the ribs.

Lol No way.

Who'd do a drug deal outside his/her own house?

Normally we'd just sit outside his House and hang out and talk before heading off to the nearby court. We all were basically going home when he decided to sit outside and after 15 minutes later it happened.

Considering it was 11 PM the officer may have considered him to be suspicious and afaik they have the right to ask you for ID (pretty common thing around here), but I'm not sure how police procedures work there

Yeah things are probably different here.

here, at least, they can ask for ID past 10PM, but they generally don't, unless you look suspicious (drunk/drugged, whatever). I remember them busting some kids for underage drinking. They were causing quite the ruckus in front of my apartment building (the were neighbors aswell), so yeah po po gonn do what po po needa do

He was sitting on his porch.

Still don't know if they were called by someone.

Not overreacting it just seems unnecessary.

Was it still unnecessary if that person did not live in the house and the police wanted to check if he wasn't going to break in?

There wasn't a call, and I think it was unnecessary if they weren't looking for someone.

He was on his porch texting and such, it didn't look like he was trying to break in.

breathing while black?

in america we joke that police sometimes think being black is a crime.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

in dutch we have the saying, "beter voorkomen dan genezen" which roughly tranlates to, better to for come then healing it afterwards. which means that it's better to check something without reason then having to deal with the trouble afterwards in case it would go wrong.

I would say that the officer did the riht thing, he did his work and protected civilians altough it wouldnt be needed, but it's better to be overprotective at such a time then not minding it and have to deal with a burgalary or murder later on.

the recent news nearly states that as a fact sadly.

I had the cops called on me because I was shooting a C02 BB gun in my backyard...
The cop was super nice, and basically said "Yeah, I knew this was going to be a 30 second conversation, but i'm basically required to have this conversation with you, because a neighbor called us about it.. Have a great day.".

They are just doing their job, get off their dicks yo.
