The context behind this is the star wars battlefront alpha not looking as good as it should according to YT comments. Since when does a i5 2500k bottleneck a 680?

1 false source, rather than a few good ones. and higher number means much better

2500K doesn't even bottleneck a 970 in many, if not all, games.

On my one plus one it's all good should last another hr and a half screen on time.

From what I understand nothing can bottleneck an i5 2500k, especially the heavy OC'd ones. So that theory falls in the water. It's more likely shitty optimization since it's alpha. :)

I think some people measure performance in "years old" when they weren't around during that generation and so aren't familiar with it. Instead of actually *gasp* researching or just *double gasp* not commenting on something they don't know about (shocking philosophy, I know), they just say "oh that's old, must be crap" and then say it as if they know it as fact. Even on this forum there's a surprising amount of people who think Phenom II chips are a lot worse than they are simply because they were from before that person's time.

It's a shame so many people talk like an authority and give people advice even when they're not knowledgeable on the topic.

When you have people running competent gaming rigs on modestly overclocked QX6770s, the argument for bottlenecks on a 2500K (should) disappear.

A lot of people don't have first hand experience with things so they make stuff up or parrot other people.
