Low FPS in Minecraft with shaders on GTX 970.

azorGFX

Hi, i have a problem with my minecraft.

Without shaders i get between 100 and 200 fps with a x512 texture pack but when i enable shaders it's between 30 and 50. Nothing in my system is maxed out. Gpu, cpu, ram usage in ss: http://i.imgur.com/xAE3BYt.jpg

SS taken with:

Forge 10.13.4.1448-1.7.10

OptiFine 1.7.10 HD U B7

ShadersModCore v2.3.28 mc1.7.10-f

SEUS v10.1 Standard (tried ultra and ultra DOF, results as expected are even worse)

John Smith Legacy 1.7.10 v1.2.21 (would like to play with Sphax GrungeBDcraft 512x MC17 + Sphax PureBDcraft 256x MC17)

I'm running minecraft with only -Xmx4G argument.
If you need any more information i'll provide.

I thought that i'm getting cpu bottlenecked but my cpu usage is below 40% at all times.

PC specs:
Windows 7 64bit
Corsair 230t
Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0
Corsair CX500M
Phenom II x6 1055t @3,5Ghz
CoolerMaster 212 evo
GTX 970 G1 Gaming
HyperX Fury 2x8GB 1866
Samsung 840 evo 120gb

Many people apparently don't know shizzle about Minecraft. Minecraft is a CPU bound game. The GPU does very little, the reason you are lagging is either your CPU or RAM. It most probably can't process all the chunks.

Try degrading the render distance setting.

EDIT:

Shaders do increase the workload of the GPU but still you shouldn't be getting a 170 frame drop.

^^^ Yep

The CPU is diffenitly the bottleneck

Here is my setup:

i7-4790k

GTX980

16GB 1866mhz DDR3

I run at 'Super Far' (optifine's highest render distance) with Normal Shaders and a 64x Sphax Texture pack and I keep myself up in the 300-500 range (with 3GB dedicated to MC [XmG3G XmX3G])

NCASE M1 i5-9600k  GTX 1080 FE Z370N-WIFI SF600 NH-U9S LPX 32GB 960EVO

Notice something here people?

A beast CPU.

Minecraft drains that part, not the 980.

just look at the ss, none of my cores are maxed out, far from it in fact, i have 16gb of ram so i don't think the problem is there either.

Try and make sure everything is up to date. Also, check the Shader's config, maybe a certain parameter is beyond maxed (unreasonably so).

Minecraft mods run like shit, if you configure them properly, which is a pain in the ass, you should get better FPS

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

my CPU usage generally sits in the 60-80% region while my 980 is at near-idle.

Of course your GPU is near idle, it is like it is rendering 200 3 y/o doodles a second xD

Try running a texture pack. I know that I get less than 30 fps on my sig rig if I don't run a pack.

Reduce the texture pack you are using from 512 to 128x or 64x. Then try again.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

I tried both of these things, performance is the same on x32 john smith and on vanilla i get 40-60. There is no diference betwen x32 and x512 in performance.

  • 2 months later...

A GTX 650 and a intel 4590 with 12GB for MC can get that much fps with shaders!

No optifine, just Forge on 1.8
