Sooo, what I see from all of this is, good performance from a GPU with premature drivers.

I didn't said that! I only discussed your opinion - Radeon Fury(X) is not FirePRO!

But you ignore the point that AMD will base a FirePro card off of the same chip. AMD doesn't focus only on Radeon, they release the Radeon version then refine it and enable extra features for the FirePro version.

Why when people have a chance to compare all these awesome GPUs would they choose to run a synthetic benchmark? It doesn't make a difference whether this is the air cooled or water cooler version because neither would be throttling meaning same performance, reports are that they put a decent air cooler on it this time.

Anyway I wonder how much faster it will be with launch day drivers? It's a new GPU and Judging by the past it may keep getting faster for the next one year of driver updates LOL.

Lol, those "OC" clocks are boost clocks, therefore no intentional overclocking was done by the user. Try actually overclocking them next time...

so?!?! what's the reason this GPU is equipped with HBM?! at least nVidia has needs of Pascal GPUs in their Tesla accelerators

lower power, less heat, smaller form factors and the ability to not have uncooled vram chips on the back of the card (Titan X looking at you)

It's not disappointing at all. The 980 Ti just has great value.

The Fury X is meant to go against the Titan X, a $1000 GPU. It is supposedly priced under $900, and other variants are meant to be around $700-800. If that's true, then it's a very good deal

Not really... In all but a few games and benchmarks the 980ti is one or two fps behind.

You do see the inside 1000 point difference on a benchmark running at 1440p and 4K between a card with 12GB and a card with 4GB, right?

The 980 Ti pretty much changed the value of every single card above $300, but relative to the Titan X, the Fury is of better value of the Titan if all of this speculation is true.

 

But the problem is that AMD can't say "Titan X competitor" when they're barely beating/in some cases getting beat by the 980 Ti. It screws up the entire marketing of the card. 

 

AMD can say the Fury competes with the Titan X all day long, people will look at the 980 Ti and say "Okay, you offer Titan X performance for a couple hundred less but your Titan X competitor isn't beating the lower tier card..."

But that's not the point. It doesn't need to beat the TitanX, UT needs to beat the 980ti. Otherwise it's obsolete. If TitanX was the only card on the mark, you'd be right, but it's not.

There will be 3 versions of the Fury and they will probably sit somewhere between $650-900 (again, just speculation). 390X is supposedly confirmed at $389. Most, if not all, of this will be confirmed on the 16th.

No, but the same GPU will be put into a FirePro. There's no actual difference between the GK 110 in a 780TI and the one in a Tesla K40, other than binning for optimal thermo-electric performance. The same is true of AMD's Hawaii-based 290X and FirePro W9100.

An important thing that you're all forgetting is that AMD launch drivers just don't match Nvidia launch drivers. If you don't plan to buy until later this year, with them this close now, it'll be interesting to see where they are in 6 months. Still disappointing.

... Though, can most 980 Tis even OC enough to increase their score that much? That seems odd.

Personally I'm a little disappointed. But then again, are we talking up to date Fiji drivers? Either way, it's a synthetic benchmark, and people seem to forget, that this thing is equally as good as Titan X, which is the green teams fap card. How could that possibly be scewed into being a bad thing?

 

 

None of those synthetic benchmarks are in any way vram or vram bandwidth starved. Of course HBM won't have any influence on the score. Pretty sure GDDR5 didn't either, when AMD was the first to market with that too. But things might not be so in half a year or 1. Who knows, maybe some games can benefit now. The benchmark is strictly gpu vs gpu.

 

 

We already know Greenland will be the chip going against pascal. Now that AMD has mastered HBM implementation, I assume they will have an advantage in the production next year. Pascal being out in q2 in 2016 is highly doubtful, both with the production issues of HBM and TSMC's 16nm ff+.

 

 

780ti had a larger bandwidth than 290x, so what exactly is your point? 780ti had too little vram, but that is about it.

Exactly my point. The 290X keeps in lock-step and now even beats the 780TI at plenty of things now that Nvidia's stopped optimizing drivers for Kepler as much. The 290X has fewer SPs and less bandwidth.

Fiji is not going to be in FPros...

Fiji is just the codename for the first "HBM powered" gpu.

The tech can be further developed, modified, tweaked in order to be suited for a specific workload.

Fiji is aimed at enthusiasts, be they gamers, modders, Linus etc...

What the hell makes you think that Fiji will be the first AMD GPU to not have a FirePro version? Are you insane, especially with the compute benchmark leaks!?

The only thing we know till now is that the GTX980Ti and Titan X are good cards.

What we dont know yet, is what AMD is going to set against it.

It can be something good, or it can be dissapointing, we dont know anything yet.

 

And honnestly i personaly dont realy care if the highend AMD card is going to beat the Titan X or not.

All i care about is how it performs for the price point it gets sold for.

 

plain simple :)

 

i do have to say that the whole maxwell architecture in general, does not impress me at all, wenn it comes to 4k performance.

But thats a personal opinnion.
