Is my pc build correct and balanced

Go to solution Solved by stconquest,

@Ethan supabass

I made a small mistake on the motherboard.  It was fine, but was missing one thing:  a USB 3.0 header.  You could use it, but the front USB 3.0 port on the case will not be USB 3.0 compliant.

I switched it up a bit.

It is white and black themed.

For the GPU you can go with an R9 390 alternative, but you would need a more powerful power supply.  The 650W GS I have here is more than enough for two GTX 970s, but not for two 390s.  The 970 I have picked is a G1, binned for overclocking.  One of the best 970s available.

I have a 1440p monitor in the build.  It will push the 970 hard, the 980Ti would have an easier time with it at twice the price though.  A 980Ti would need a bigger power supply as well, ONLY if you would ever buy two of them.

That was just for the white/black build.  It is really easy to build in BTW.

The Phanteks Enthoo Pro is still the best value for high end cases.  $135 I believe.

The H97 is not the board for a K-Series CPU... do you want to drop the easy overclock (CPU)?

Z97 boards allow for multiplier stepping on the CPU (easy overclocking).  H97 boards do not have this feature.

Hard drives are noisy and generate heat.  I keep all my drives in a drawer and only run a SSD in my case.  When I need to use a hard drive, I connect it via SATA -to-USB 3.0 adapter.  I use it and then put it back in my drawer.

You can use an adapter or a dock:

Adapter, I got this one for $20: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812156051&cm_re=sata_to_usb_3.0-_-12-156-051-_-Product

Dock, around $35-$50:  http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153133&cm_re=sata_to_usb_3.0-_-17-153-133-_-Product
