Is my pc build correct and balanced

Go to solution Solved by stconquest,

@Ethan supabass

I made a small mistake on the motherboard.  It was fine, but was missing one thing:  a USB 3.0 header.  You could use it, but the front USB 3.0 port on the case will not be USB 3.0 compliant.

I switched it up a bit.

The CPU is a little faster and uses less energy.  Potentially higher overclocks.

It paves the way for newer technology like:  DDR4 and USB 3.1(the mobo I had selected did not have USB 3.1).

The question would be why would you not go with Skylake if the cost is nearly the same.

Show me a build.

980 or 390X.... all depends on the price.

4790K, 6700K, 4690K... all depends on the price.

16GB is more than enough, 8GB is enough.

From the benchmarks of fps in game gtx 980 is a clearly winner for speed, noise and power efficiency against the R9 390x, but I don't know if the gtx 980 perform better just because of the drivers isn't optimized for the new r9 390x.

I think a good headphone and a mic combo is also a good idea because I like better user experience instead of the extra horse power that I don't need just yet.

Those are "extras", not essentials.  I get it though, it makes the PC feel more complete.

How was your trip?

Spent the better part of 30 minutes reading all 16 pages of this thread, as I am currently about to build my son his first great gaming rig.

Best of luck OP with your build. Hope it will be everything you want.

Hats off to Stconquest. You, sir, deserve the Patience Award of the Millenium !! This thread kept me entertained. Thank you. And , hang in there just a little while longer, hehehe.

here is my build

For the most part, the build is great... wow that CDN dollar :(

The SSD you have picked is very old, not too bad... but old.  The price is good.  Hmmm.  Sequential R/W speeds are really good, the controller(sandforce) is old and the Random 4K R/W speeds are average.

If you are gabbing a 500GB SSD, leave the 1TB hard drive out.  You won't need it right away.  If you ever do need the storage, you can always add it later.

The 850W PSU is too much for a single card.  If you are planning on a dual GPU setup, then okay.  Save some money with this then:  http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-110b20850v1

Canada Computers does not have a store (at least I don't think it does).

Vaughn, North York and Richmond hill have Canada Computer stores.

NCIX has stores in the area.

Newegg has pickup centres.   Order parts, then go pick them up.  Saves on shipping.  Newegg recently moved their centre to Richmond Hill.
