1) yes

when installing windows it will give you the option to format your drive before installing

when youre done installing windows you should go to disk management and format+partition any other drives you have to assign them a letter

2) yes

as long as its a good quality PSU and not some cheap chinese brand it should be safe

Are they just storage drives? If so, no you don't need to format them.

There is no need to format a disk in order to put it on a new/different system, you wiull need to install/remove drivers and such, but both windows and Linux include Kernels for both AMD and Nvidia.

It is recommended to format, but nothing stops you from not doing it. YOu can keep using your previous installation and only format if you find any kind of hardware incompatibilities (There is a threat of constant BSODs if some piece of hardware can't stand the old installation, but not too likely, and then you'd have to format).

well you should format and reinstall windows when moving it to a new PC to avoid a bunch of issues

unless the PC youre moving to is going to use the same motherboard or similar parts

data drives with just files wont need to be formatted, those will work fine

oh and btw if you use AHCI on the new PC but youre not using that on your current PC you 100% do need to reinstall windows

When you setup Windows it should format them for you unless they're storage drive. For the PSU, not just any 500 W will do but 500W is more than enough on that build, yes. I'd estimate about 200W under load from that PC.

EDIT: OH you've installed Windows on them already. Yeah, you can delete all that's on the drive during the Windows setup. If you motherboard supports it (and it should if you're getting a Haswell i5) then make sure to install Windows EFI-style. I can talk you through that if you want.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

not really sure what AHCI is and im probably not going to use it

its a newer and better storage controller interface which gives much faster speeds

nobody should be using IDE any more, everything should be AHCI

Yes, yes you are going to use AHCI xD

RAID is an option if you have multiple drives. IDE is an old fashioned style that SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS
