I wasn't aware that they worked like that. I figured that it would make it slower. Maybe I need to find out more about them.

A lot of VPNs will slow down your connection, but there are some that will help, the problem is you can only receive data so fast from your ISP, so if your throttled it may help if your capped  with no throttling it can't help get any more speed.

The test says my location is "Accra". Google says that is the capital of Ghana. When I google "My Location" it correctly comes up with my city in North Carolina. I can't do more than Step 1 because of this...

Also, we're paying for TWC's 30 Down, 5 Up plan, and this test only shows around 20 down and 3 up.

this site says i get 30 down 10 up when i pay for 100 down 10 up.

VPN will use compression your upload speed is always wrong, fyi. your download speed improvement is legit, but not your upload.

Its weird, when I first ran the test around 7pm today, I got only 9Mbps on the first test linking to Los Angeles, with the rest getting 60's-90's, and it said I was totally getting throttled hard.  But now when I run the test around 6 hours later , I got 90, 57, 85, 92, said no throttling, and my connection is supposed to be 100/10 (plus PowerBoost - a burst of extra speed when you need it most)

with Cox. Must have been peak hours I guess.

This made me just realize my ISP, Optimum doesn't advertise what their basic internet speeds are, only their upgraded packages.
On an old outdated part of their site they said up to 15/5, but Ive heard mention of 20/5. This (and speedtest) say I'm getting 16/6. - A couple of weeks ago I was getting 18/5. Well at least I'm getting consistent better then what was advertised in 2008ish speeds.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

That first test seems to give trouble, but that might just be the connection "warming up."

It's 15/5. I'm on Optimum too, and was using your package until I upgraded last year. I don't see why you wouldn't upgrade, though. More than triple the speed for $5 more...

Funnily enough the test showed me to be in Sydney, when its south and a whole state away from me, but I'm getting the 10/1 speeds I'm paying for, with spikes up to 11/1.5.

Oddly enough I currently pay for a 200Mb connection. These results would suggest that I'm getting double that? Also noticed that during the test when the percentage was moving clockwsise I was getting 20Mbps but anti-clockwise it was giving me 39Mbps.

I should upgrade... I just fear more internet issues happening. The cable going to the house takes a less then ideal route from a splitter that I should honestly not be connected to. My house is not connected to the splitter box that is on the edge of the property that only has 1 house connected to it, but one on the other side of the road that has 3 other houses connected to it. This basically causes my house to have a weak signal.

2 Years ago, I lost internet connection for over a week, and they "fixed" it, but the technician said a week afterwards its still a weak signal. - I should note the regular TV connection was 100% fine <_<.

Go easy? The Hayabusa armor never added any functional difference to Spartans, and the katana was not even usable, and you expect us to go easy??

I'm dealing with pretty much the exact same issue, so I know your pain. It's never gone out for a week, though. I've had ~12 hours I think.
