Opinions on the HX 650?

Toxicable

I believe there is a varient of it so im talking about this one http://www.corsair.com/en/hx-series-hx650-power-supply-650-watt-80-plus-gold-certified-modular-psu
Anyway, I see a guy selling one that's just been sitting in the box apparently for $150 NZD, they're about 200 new here. So I was just looking for some opinions on it. I've read Johny Guru's review on the 850 model which he scored rather well and i've read a few other reviews which people have often said about some fault with the fan making weird noises.

So what do you guys think? go for it to nah?

I have run many Corsair PSUs, never an H series but the E and A series all all over the place in my house and they have all been excellent. Not exactly the answer you were looking for but hope it helps to just know these are all good PSUs IMO.

I have the hx1050. No issues with its power delivery but its fan profile is obnoxious and wouldn't suggest it for a silent build.

This must be the issue that i've read about.

Although I think i'd only draw about 400 W with my system anyway so it might not get too bad for me, otherwise maybe there's some way to flash it? I dont even know if that's a thing

It's a good psu but 150 NZD isn't that good of a price.
