Posted April 11, 2015 My monitor is full of missing pixels. I damaged it at a small point but ever since then it's been spreading unstoppably like a melanoma. Slight increase in terms of both size and color can be differentiated unfortunately. So my question is, is it worth getting it fixed or should I go for a minimum of 24" FHD IPS (new) monitor instead? This current monitor is 7 years old. It's a philips 170s I think. 8+ ms response time with a refresh rate of 60hz and is capable of displaying a maximum of 1280x1024 resolution. Not only is this my only problem though: when the screen gets darker I can kind of see its refresh rate or something. I can see horizontal lines bursting from top to bottom constantly. With this being said, should I consider a monitor upgrade? Also, is this "monitor-melanoma" dangerous to man's health? I mean it's an LCD monitor and I guess the liquid crystals which are behind the panel aren't exactly edible or something... Here's a picture of how my punk monitor looks like: (I left VLC player open cuz of the white background. It creates a better contrast so perhaps now you can see this trash better but if it's still not 'nuff I done some paint editing swell)
 Sure I'll be OK with an FHD monitor. I once used a 24" FHD TN monitor and my old punk-ass monitor doesn't even compare. But I've got enough cash to buy some fany-ass IPS panel display which I guess is better for both gaming and watching movies.
