Is just a fun and some kind of survey topic. I personally prefer G1 gaming as I'm impressed Gigabyte's G1 Windforce cooler and I personally uses a GTX780 Windforce. They stay cool and quiet.

Ill probably just pour some liquid nitrogen on it periodically as they probably will give out more heat than the 290s

Vapor-X will be the best in general perspective, but PCS+ will likely be the best for the money.

woah , woah , woah. the 290x i have runs rather cool considering its megga overclock. the heat output is rather reasonable and is about the same as a gtx 980 lol

the current list of dead cards is as follows 2 evga gtx 980ti acx 2.0 , 1 evga gtx 980 acx 2.0 1600mhz core 2100mhz ram golden chip card ... failed hardcore , 1 290x that caught fire , 1 hd 7950 .

vapor-x, saw the temperature tests on r9 290/290x cards and i'm rather impressed.

sapphire is to amd/radeon as evga is to nvidia. They manufacture the reference cooler and are able to play with the pcb chip etc before their competition can

actually in TekSyndicate's last review with their Sapphire rep they found out that Sapphire only make the reference coolers for their Fire Pro series, not their gaming series cards. They do get first whack at the aftermarket stuff, but AMD is making their reference design in-house.

If it`s on air it probably shouldn`t exist. Reference coolers suck dick (especially AMD`s).

To which I will point you to the 7990. AMD's flagship dual GPU of last generation. Open air and triple fan. And what's wrong with Nvidia's current gen reference cooler? I've got two 580s on reference coolers that I just added a zero rpm mode to a few days ago. I'm not saying that aftermarket coolers are bad, I'm just saying that they get the job done. That, and in multi card configuration, reference coolers are a lot of the time, better.

290x reference get way too hot and whine coil`s a massive issue. It`s less frequent on Nvidia`s flagship cards but really the 780ti and the Titan X are pushing that blower to its limits. Sure the 980 is fine but it would prevent Nvidia from sacking some efficiency for power in the future.
