Gmail vs. Outlook: Should I switch?

Should I switch from Outlook to Gmail? I'm holding back, since I have all of my contacts on Outlook, and I got Microsoft Office Online (a cut down version of Office with better compatibility) and you know, it's not Gmail, so less spam and it's being overlooked by Microsoft ,good for Windows 10. On the other hand, Gmail is a better email service in my opinion, and is integrated with Google Docs, which are pretty damn good, for my usage. What do you think? What do you use personally?

I've never gotten spam on my live address along with all the other outlook accounts i have.

I'd stay with outlook unless you want more support with Android.

Last year I started getting spam from some fashion related bull. And medicine. xD

I think there is a way to automatically forward all your emails to your gmail, try using that for a week or 2, see if you like it.

My work and university emails go through Outlook, my personal but important stuff, subscriptions etc. are on Gmail. They're both good but my Gmail is much more accessible so I keep both.

You can make an auto-forwarding rule on Outlook to have it send all emails you receive there to your Gmail to have everything in one place.

Best of both worlds.

When signing up to gmail check "I wan't to use my other email adress" or something like that, so you can have them both!

I don't like being tied into a certain way of doing things like Outlook, but I also don't like being spied on by Gmail. I personally would like to put my own mail server together and see how that goes, but that's just me, to be honest. I'm sure that most of us don't have the time or the patience to get that all set up. For pure convenience, if not for any other reason, I would go with gmail, and I still use it like a hypocrite after all I said just now, but everything just kills you with convenience nowadays, it's insane.

Do what you feel works best for you. Try things out, and if you don't like Gmail, well, you can always switch back. If you want an open-source version of Outlook, there's always Thunderbird, although I don't know how well that's been going over the years. I'm not a very e-mail person myself.

i'd always suggest sticking with the email system you have, but i have one question:

less spam than Gmail? i RARELY get a spam email on my Gmail account... (hotmail on the other hand... xD)

I am the exact opposite, never get spam on Outlook other than one type (fake bank accounts) but gmail oh my... it is unusable because of the spam.

I am fine with my Outlook account right now. Though I am thinking of switching over the Gmail soon.

I can probably set up Gmail to work with Outlook, the main reason I wanted to use more Gmail is because it's so damn powerful, so is Outlook in some ways too. I've decided to just move my mail for a few weeks, it's gonna be damn confusing for my phone though.

Yeah Outlook as for an account is good, but it's client sucks.

I'm on gmail but would switch to Outlook if it wasn't that my email is so old (I got my gmail when you had to have a invitation code for the beta)

I hate gmail. The interface is ugly, clunky. Threads with a lot of replies are hard to manage. I prefer the look of Outlook.com. Anyway, I mostly use clients to acces my emails so it doesn't change much wich service I use in the end...

But there's no real advantage to Gmail that I can think of. They're pretty much the same now.

While I have and use both, Outlook is the superior platform in my opinion for a myriad of reasons.
